When the law changed, I seem to remember some concerns that a malicious fringe candidate could stand in a large number of seats and then kill themselves, leading to countermandered polls across much of the country, causing chaos and delays to forming a government.

She is to be banned from leaving the country as part of a deal the government has apparently struck with the opposition. Don't think there's much doubt about what happens if/when she is released. |

Specifically an agreement with the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan, who are a new force in Islamist politics in Pakistan and are, to say the least, bad news.* The TLP's platform is pretty simple: kill all apostates and blasphemers. They aren't interested in much else. *Tautology, obviously. |
