I am suspicious that KD are so clear of the threshold. Is it possible people who were thinking of voting for the Sweden Democrats changed to the Christian Democrats at the last minute? (I'm not saying the Christian Democrats have anything in common with the Sweden Democrats). Some right voters may have switched to the KD's to ensure they got over the 4% threshold. Also, they're probably the closest of the bourgeois parties to the SD's.

"Others" down to 1.8%. Neither the AfS nor FI had an impact, it seems.

Hyppeln is very close to Gothenburg, which (given recent events) can probably be expected to see a heightened SD vote in its environs compared to some other places.

Note that this doesn't matter as much as in e.g. Denmark for various reasons, the absolute hostility of the more liberal bourgeois parties to the Sweden Democrats being one of them (i.e. because it would make a minority bourgeois block government problematic).

On the current figures so far (obviously it entirely depends on where has been counted so far, and it's only 3% counted), SVT and Aftonsbladet both have the MP and L below the threshold...

At the moment: www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/a/wEGeKPhas the SD at 20.5% making the Guardian's early "bad night for the Swedish Democrats" look a bit awry.. Then again hope springs eternal in the breasts who hope Elites end up on top..

If the Greens fall below 4% would it scupper any chance of the Social Democrats returning to government?

Greens now above the threshold with nearly 15% of districts counted; Left have slipped behind Centre.

Greens currently on 4%. However, that's down only 2.2% on what they got in the areas counted in 2014. They need to lose 3% to go below the threshold.

Then again hope springs eternal in the breasts who hope Elites end up on top..OK I'm finally going to bite on a thing that has started to nag at me. I can completely understand anyone taking a principled opposition to the EU and all its works for various reasons. But isn't it a bit odd for someone who calls themself a liberal, and who (I understand) was once a member of the LD party, to be quite so delighted by the good fortunes of La Lega and the SDs? Are these really what you consider to be Liberal parties, or is hostility to the EU and/or immigration enough to get your hope springing eternal, irrespective of all other polices? How about AfD, the FN or Fidesz? Would they get your support? In what way do any or all of the above qualify as liberal? And in a related question what way does, e.g. a Syrian refugee living in a tower block on the outskirts of Gothenburg (or Rome, or London come to that) qualify as a member of The Elite?
