I don't think it is over-stating it to suggest that this election is pivotal to the future of Sweden like never before Agreed.. and should be pivotal to the future of the EU (like Italy's) but will be blithely ignored by the nomenklatura. There is now a rush by the EU to advance #EverCloserUnion before the suckers (sorry the citizens) wake up and get organised.

My prediction is that if SD come 2nd with "only" 18% the cognoscenti will announce that nationalism had been defeated and all the right arguments won...even though a result like that would have been unthinkable before.

I wonder what the chances are of the Moderate Party sneaking through the middle to win most votes.

British exit polls are very accurate these days. Whether that extends to Sweden will be interesting to observe.

There will be another exit poll - by a different set of firms - later.

SAP 25.4, V 9.8, MP 5.8 - 41.0 M 18.4, C 9.4, KD 6.6, L 5.7 - 40.1 SD 16.4 I am suspicious that KD are so clear of the threshold. They had a great campaign and basically doubled their support in the published polls during it, so it's not implausible.

Is it possible people who were thinking of voting for the Sweden Democrats changed to the Christian Democrats at the last minute? (I'm not saying the Christian Democrats have anything in common with the Sweden Democrats).

I am suspicious that KD are so clear of the threshold. They had a great campaign and basically doubled their support in the published polls during it, so it's not implausible. Not forgetting the Brother 4% Factor.
