That may be the solution to the Riddler. What's the question? See andrewteale post #160 from 3 August above.

Hat-tip to Council Data UK for these:
The death has been announced of Ray Catchpole, Conservative councillor for Wenhaston and Westleton ward, Suffolk Coastal council.
Pat Ferguson has resigned as councillor for Clifton North ward, Nottingham council; she was elected as Labour but had gone independent.
Renata Jones has resigned as Conservative councillor for Birstall Wanlip ward, Charnwood council.

She was running in the September 6th Ashton Waterloo ward by-election in Tameside until unpaid council tax was discovered. The Canary then waffles on about how Labour is against low-income candidates. They don't seem to have taken a moment to research the Local Government Finance Act and how she might have been barred from voting...

Also, it doesn't follow that just because you have tax or other debt arrears then necessarily you are poor. Mr Micawber had plenty of money coming in but his outgoings were another matter.

I note that the lady in question runs a weekly protest outside the local Jobcentre. Perhaps if she spent that time earning some money she could start paying off her Council Tax arrears ... ?

When was she deselected? Nominations are already up so there must have been a bit of a scramble to find a candidate.
Tameside seems like one of those councils that could benefit from STV.

When was she deselected? Nominations are already up so there must have been a bit of a scramble to find a candidate. Tameside seems like one of those councils that could benefit from STV. Well the candidate first tweeted about it on Wednesday 8th and the nominations went up the next day, but she did make reference to an attempt at an appeal with the party's regional office, so I'm guessing this all took place over the past week. Naturally her Twitter account is going along with the same narrative of she was done in simply because she's poor, and it's filled with retweets of people also going in for the same narrative. Never let research get in the way of a good story...

Vacancy in Linton Ward, South Derbyshire DC following the sad death today of Cllr Bob Wheeler (Con). He was Council Leader from 2010 to January this year and had been suffering from cancer. His wife Heather had put her ministerial role on hold to care for him.

By-election in Luton BC, Limbury ward on 20 September: Hmm. Don't know the cause - the two sitting councillors Steve Lewis and Jennifer Rowlands are both still listed on the council website. Luton's in the middle of reselections which has led to a lot of sitting Labour councillors losing.
