Sad to report the death of Matt Parr, Labour councillor for Coldharbour ward in Lambeth.

The Times this morning is reporting the resignation of Ann Sinnott, Labour councillor for Petersfield ward in Cambridge, in a dispute over trans women's access to women's toilets (she's against it). Can't find any confirmation though.

I’m guessing not as technically he was still eligible to sit as a councillor until the conclusion of the 28 days in which to lodge an appeal against his conviction, and I presume had he lodged such an appeal he could have remained in office pending its conclusion.

shame, but if that's the law...

On one of related links it says the council have asked for talks with the Welsh Executive about a law change that would allow for easier dismissal in such circumstances.
