WEYMOUTH & PORTLAND BC, Weymouth West (Con sitting as independent resigned) Candidates: GRAVES, Val (Green) GREENHALF, David Joseph (Labour) NICKINSON, Richard Douglas (Conservative) 2016: Lab 644; Con 545; Grn 289 2015: Con 1231; Lab 934; Grn 624 2014: Con 541; Lab 536; Grn 504 2012: Lab 656; Con 481; Grn 180; LD 75 2011: Con 766; Lab 734; LD 263 2010: Con 1143; Lab 956; LD 733 2007: Con 680; Lab 614; LD 234; Ind 148 2006: Con 674; Lab 511; LD 505 2004: Lab 672, 659, 585; Con 584, 562; LD 527, 428, 387; UKIP 505 The Conservative councillor elected in 2014 defected to the Greens before turning independent and then resigning. The seat would have been up for election this May in any case if elections in Weymouth & Portland hadn’t been cancelled. I'm reasonably certain that she didn't ever leave the Greens and go independent. Also probably worth mentioning that she resigned due to taking a paid position under the council - manager of the town's business improvement district. Yes, she didn't go Independent, and I assume she is still a party member.

I just mean that I would be able to do a quite detailed description of the area but I'm sure Andrew Teale is on the case. We seem to be doing a pretty good job of it on the Watford thread anyway!

They will however all be namechecked, and St Albans North will be discussed a bit more than the safer wards. Should be back to normal format for 17th May.

Labour seem to fancy their chances in the Swale - East Sheppey seat... would be a huge win if they managed it. UKIP are working it hard considering the state they are in - the candidate is the son of the popular local UKIP Councillor Mini Nissanga. The Tories are mired in controversy over their candidate's involvement in the Big Local scheme where about 50% of the lottery money supposed to go to the local communities actually gets spent on wages and admin...
