I don't support a country based just 70 years ago on land theft and genocide. A South African style "democracy" is illegitimate. Either give equal rights to the Palestinians or allow them a separate independent state. Don't get me wrong I don't support really arabs either. aka the people following a backwards repressive mediaeval religion with an extraordinary conservative society. Still that doesn't give Israel an automatic right to treat them as a 21st century Juden. Has someone hacked your account?

Polling day reports: 1. everyone is insisting that turnout is really bad where they need it to be and there's a real threat of losing the election/dropping out of the Knesset/the End of the World, 2. everyone is crying foul and reporting everyone else to the authorities.
So a normal Israeli polling day then.

I don't support a country based just 70 years ago on land theft and genocide. One of several in the region that one could make that accusation of. And one where 40% of the population are descended from people who had their ancestral land stolen and relatives murdered as they were deported to Israel, and are hardly likely to be sympathetic.

Anyway, today's Only In Israel moment so far is Netanyahu haranguing sunbathers and telling to go and vote.

Turnout at 6pm local time reported as 52% - down 2.6% on the same time last time. Turnout in Arab towns and villages is widely reported as being well down on last time; the exact impact of this depends on who isn't voting that did last time.

Blue and White are going to hold an emeregency meeting over the low turnout they say they’re worried Likud will beat them in gross seat numbers, which would be a surprise. Likud has also done held a meeting and said their voters aren’t turning out but B&W is outright accusing them of lying. Likud’s victory party is being delayed too. So, either they’re all lying or tonight is going to be interesting.

Something else to note: all smaller parties would be at least a vague risk of missing the threshold if there is a massive late consolidation (aha) around the two PM candidates. Which isn't entirely implausible.

Turnout at 8pm local time 61.3%, down 1.1% on last time. Note that 8pm is also when work on the exit polls will have stopped; they don't factor in the last few hours of voting, and those can often be important.

FFS. Too close.
Both quite a bit up on Siboleths round-up. Have the small parties been wiped out?

Exit polls all over the place, except they agree on considerable consolidation (see above) and that government formation will be... difficult. Have the small parties been wiped out? Some of them will be gone, but we won't know for sure for quite a while.

The big surprise is that some exits show Bennett out. But he did sound particularly desperate today...
