They must be asking doctors to do it. A doctor once acted as my proposer on a (parliamentary) nomination paper. I took it in. The Deputy Deputy Returning Officer looked at the signature. Looked at the Polling Number. Looked at the name in the Electoral Register. "This looks nothing like Roberts" he said. "Can't accept it." "He's a Doctor" I said. "Oh, fair enough." does that include those with a doctorate? I've canvassed a few people who've reminded me they are Dr so and so not Mr/Mrs

does that include those with a doctorate? I've canvassed a few people who've reminded me they are Dr so and so not Mr/Mrs One friend of my parents, who has a PhD, always referred to himself as 'Doctor' when phoning up to reserve tables at restaurants as it guaranteed they would never be told there were no tables available that night. I wonder if they thought it would be handy to have a doctor on site in case of medical emergencies. If so his experience in astrophysics may not have been much use.

If the prediction competition tells us anything (and okay it probably doesn't) the interest is likely to centre around Nottingham and Rutland tonight with the other six looking pretty straightforward?

I think that our chances in Nottingham are very slim to be honest. I expect to lose approximately 3:2.

Slight correction: the LD candidate in Northchurch is Lara Pringle, not Laura.

A Train Manager with Great Western told me a lovely story. A passenger was taken ill on his train part-way between Newport and Reading. He put out a call, asking for any medical practitioners who might be on the train to come to Coach E. Fifteen turned up. A Medical Conference had closed that morning in Cardiff. They examined the patient, and assured the Train Manager that there was no evidence of a rash. It had been a Dermatology Conference ... * * Before this is pointed out, yes I realise dermatologists will have received general training. But it's a good story ...
