Two elections in 8 days in one ward must be some sort of record! The TUSC candidate is running in both elections which could create an interesting situation in the unlikely event of her winning on May 3rd.

Newcastle-under-Lyme - Kidsgrove. There is a normal council election on 3rd May 2012, then a by-election for the seat elected in 2010 on 10th May 2012.

I presume, there must have been a principal council election one week and a local council election the following week, where requests for elections to fill the respective vacancies made vacant by a twin hatted councillor have been made at different dates over the 14 day period to do so?

I'm not sure what the rules would be where you have a treble hatted county, district and parish councillor vacancy and electors submit 3 seperate requests for elections over the 2 week period?

Nigel Goodyear, Conservative councillor for Meads ward, Eastbourne BC has resigned to stand as an Independent candidate for Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner. The by-election will be on 31st May.

Sarah Hill, Labour councillor for Springfield and Trent Vale ward, Stoke-on-Trent City Council, has resigned after failing in a leadership challenge against the incumbent leader. She was then sacked from the council's executive. No date yet set for the poll.
