I hadn't seen the accusations either before I predicted. I based my low expectations for the Conservative on my guess it will be a Labour v LD scrap, and that the C candidate lives in Penryn, not Falmouth as the other three do. I know that's not a million miles away, but all the same ... I feel these are two byelections where local knowledge will be really important. As it should be.

The last byelection when a candidate's past misconduct was picked up on was Redhall and Lingfield ward in Darlington on 16 November last year - in respect of Conservative candidate Jonathan Dulston. It didn't seem to harm him at all; he nearly gained the seat.

There is a world of difference between the two...

Perhaps he thought he was standing in Smethwick rather than Smithick I like the official excuse that he was only a racist before he joined the Tory Party! Such powers of rehabilitation!

I believe the ex BNP regional organiser, who's a Labour Cabinet member on Blackburn with Darwen Council, uses much the same line of argument !!

They cite us so I know they're reading... the red colour scheme on the Lib Dem leaflets in Sunderland will be because to get an orange leaflet on some of our printers, you have to set the colour as red. I'm guessing that is the case here, and they just uploaded the pdf of that. Nothing nefarious I promise!
