One of not many people I can call northern by comparison! "I like my Italy like I like my Irelands- Northern". I’m from Northern Ireland, northern Italy, and erm South London. Northern Ireland and South London are separate nations. And I’m still at heart a Savoyan nationalist (in theory, in practice I detest all nationalism)

The border to North London is much harder. Land mines as you cross Vauxhall Bridge.

No results in from Alice Castello That's because it is a Danish cheese and not recognised as an Italian municipality. Yet.

It's an interesting parlour game, though. Craxi is fairly accurate though... They aren't nearly nasty enough about that louse tbh... (also basic factual error alert: he wasn't the first non-DC PM of the Republic, the PRI's Spadolini was).

I'll be interested to see how Trieste votes since that was the last Italian city I visited about a year ago.

A pretty disappointing result for Italy. Now, over 2/3rds of the legislature will be either loons or charlatans.

The queue was quite long when I went to polling station this afternoon. Around 10 people each in male and female lines when I arrived. The new anti-fraud system is taking extra time. When they give you the ballot paper, the chair of the polling station has to read a number (that is present on the ballot paper that gave you) to one of the counters who writes it down next to your name on the register. Then when you come back after voting and give him the ballot paper, he has to re-read it to the counter who checks that the number is the same. Then the chair can remove the number and place the ballot paper on the ballot box. As we have 2 ballot papers (House and Senate), they have to do it twice. Turnout at 19:00 is 58.something (some municipalities still have to report) A number on the BallotPaper, written to Your name - doesn't this mean, that Your vote can be controlled by corrupt CountingClerks?

They introduced it because it seems it was practice in some areas when selling-buying votes is widespread that those buying your vote give you a ballot paper, then you put in the box and you take the official one outside to show that you have put the one already voted by you in the box. With this system, you can't because you can't put the fake ballot paper in the box as it doesn't have the number when you hand it to the clerk

Both LN and FI could have done, and were doing, better only a couple of weeks ago, and look to be behind 5* in vote share. They may well end up running the government, but it's not exactly a vote of confidence in them thankfully. Edit - I say that, we'll probably end up with a LN-FI majority now 😁

Just a warning of sorts, but early projections are sometimes even worse than exit polls!
