Isn't he related to Owain Williams? Which one ?? The leader of Llais Gwynedd? If so, that must have been galling for Llinos Merks, the LLG candidate in Nefyn, having a relative of the party leader stand against you, beat you, and then join your party. LLG did remarkably well on the Llyn peninsula. They lost pretty much everywhere else (holding, I think, only Llangelynin and their byelection gain in Caernarfon) but have established a mini regional powerbase. Some of these seats are under threat from boundary changes next time, though. A lot of the Llyn ones are pretty under-sized.

Another one is Owen Watkin James of Scleddau, Pembs, now listed as unaffiliated rather than Conservative. Is he another one the independents have promised an SRA to?

Seemingly not, as he's one of the (rather numerous) unaffiliated councillors, rather than part of the indy group. Pembrokeshire has been hit by an unusual outbreak of independent thought this year; or to put in another way a number of independent councillors have discovered a dictionary.

That's a fairly unusual one. Maybe our resident Liberal might have a comment??

The Kidderminster Liberals were always a funny lot.. My wife used to work with Fran Oborski. Not that Fran actually showed up for work very often!

I wasn't sure if it was deliberate irony in Pimp's question.
Incidentally I think this defection gives the Conservatives technical control of the council which they lost in May, it gives them 21 of 42 councillors anyway

Have an exalt Kris, that made me laugh!
Hate the new method of referring to the 'chair'. How about 'Chairman' for men and 'Chairwoman' or even 'Madam Chairman' for women?

All this talk of how it's "silly to call a person an object" is itself silly. It's quite common in English to refer to people by the symbol of their office: "the suits" for the management of a company, "the bench" for Magistrates, and even "Black Rod".
