Yes it is. IN the old place I think there was a thread about councils becoming LD free zones (and free zones for other parties). Many of these were trailed for this May such as Knowsley, Harlow etc. Does anyone know of any that have become Tory free zones which weren't previously? I think South Tyneside was on the cards but they managed to hold Cleadon this year The only ones I can see that are now Conservative free are Norwich and North Lanarkshire The LDs lost last presence on: Coventry Knowsley Salford Sandwell Sunderland Hartlepool Rushmoor Redditch Lincoln Hastings Harlow Carmarthen Merthyr Neath PT Torfaen Stirling North Lanarkshire North Ayrshire Midlothian East Renfrewshire East Lothian Clackmannanshire I'll work out the smaller parties in a moment

Thanks for that. The UKIP councillors in Sefton, Swindon and Plymouth were only through defefctions, as were teh Liberals in Cannock Chase, the English Democrats in both places mand the Greens in Milton Keynes. The BNP must have disappeared just about everywhere now. I know they have one still in Pendle elected in 2010, but the Bradford ones are no longer BNP. Perhaps one in Charnwood

Perhaps one in Charnwood See my recent posts in another thread. They have three currently, one each in Pendle, Lancashire and Charnwood. There are four current councillors who were elected for the BNP but are no longer members of the party. The Lancashire councillor's term ends next May.

I was rather surprised at UKIP losing out in Newcastle Under Lyme, TBH, they seemed to have been building quite well in that area and though if anything they might increase - do you know what happened there?

I know they were defending two seats this year which they won very narrowly over Labour in 2008, in other words basically safe Labour wards which that aprty should have regained given even a modest recovery. I haven't lookd at the figures to see how well UKIPs vote held up, but it may be they lost by default as it were.

Not a happy story in Newcastle under Lyme to be honest. We have gone from 5 Borough councillors to 0 and I fully expect us to lose our 3 county councillors next year. As Pete says this is partly because we took seats off Labour when they were very unpopular in 2007, 2008 and 2009 but our problems in Newcastle run much deeper than that.

I see the SDP no longer in Aberavon, or had that already happened? They just have the one seat in East Yorkshire now and the only ED seat is the ex-BNP councty councillor in Hertfordshire. Keith Edkins site is nicely up to date now by the looks of it, although it does have trouble keeping up to date with defections. I have a spreadsheet which listed all councillros by parliamentary constituency, but I hadn't updated since I think before 2010. It will be interesting to do a new one to see how they've shifted. For example, in another place someone commented that Labour have a majority of seats in Wolverhampton SW for the first time. I also notice Labour now have all the councillors again in Coventry NE (which thus becomes a Conservative and LD free zone for the first time in many years) and also in Birmingham Hodge Hill and Ladywood. Birmingham Northfield was another 'Labour gain' this May. This probably warrants a new thread when I have something more substantive

It is claimed in the relevant thread here that the SDP did hold onto one of their three Aberavon seats in NPT.

I will have to check. I was going on this list on Edkins site Others comprise: Ind 1485, RA 80, UKIP 25, Lib 16, ICHC 10, Resp 7, MK 5, BNP 3, ED 1, SDP 1, SSP 1 and the SDP is listed by East Yorkshire, whereas the others in Neath & Port Talbot are not classified. May be a classification error on Edkins' part

But they never had one in those places before last week - which is the point of the response - those councils which had representation by a party, but no longer do. The Conservatives were only removed from two councils last Thursday.

Tony Martin (organiser of the Croydon & Sutton branch of the BNP) has left the party and joined the National Front. He had some sort of disagreement about the selection of (and authorisation of) candidates for the GLA elections.

Yup, hangs around them like a bad smell Proof, yet again, that you should never trust anybody who peppers their internet output with 'lol's! Oh, and wasn't he going to resign his seat??

he is a total tosser, he is far more left wing than I was and called Cameron and Osborne all kinds of names on Labour List. and hated the Tories. some people warned me about him, they were right, he can be the Tory group leader now and that is what counts.
