I've got a nasty feeling about this one. No particular reason or justification, but this has all the hallmarks of a repeat of Pallion. I’m not so sure, in the poll way back in November/December I voted for a 30% Labour majority. I had still thought that would happen. With an “obscenely low” turnout I’ll probably be wrong I suppose.

BBC are reporting a postal vote turn out of 61% which is apparently lower than the PV turnout in 2016. Lower turnout is pretty much par for the course with regards to by-elections, so nothing really surprising about that...

Turnout could be below 30% apparently.

Ok, who wants to make predictions about the declaration time? Based on the hearsay I've seen, I'm going to guess at somewhen between midnight and 12:30.

Turnout could be below 30% apparently. Even one or two of us on this forum didn't realise this was tonight, so I wouldn't be surprised.

I went with a majority of 15-20% - we'll soon see if I'm wrong
I think without UKIP the Conservatives ought to pick up a few votes.

Roger Scully says it looks to be a very comfortable Labour win.

Seriously, I know this is a by-election and all, but didn't the events of last do anything to disabuse people of this notion...?!Anyway, I think the only reason why I'm managing to resist the urge to drill my own brains out is because that would require me to go out into the garage, and I'm feeling a tad lazy.

Far from disastrous then.

Far from disastrous then. When compared with the 2016 turnout, that's a pretty decent retention rate, for the immediate lack of a better term...

Far from disastrous then. Beating yesterday's Teignbridge Town Council turnout by 0.8 points.

Far from disastrous then. Often the way - these early rumours of catastrophic turnouts are usually rubbish.
