They have been capped for quite some time now I believe. They should kept the East as a second delegation by fudging the reunification process! The USSR had the Ukraine and Belarus as separate seats in the United Nations in addition to their own seat. I suspect they wanted 15 seats but settled for three. AFAIK the East was simply not represented in the European Parliament until 1994. Germany's allocation was reduced in 2019 from 99 to 96 MEPs. Stephen Harper once promised Québec its own seat on UNESCO but it was not within his gift to, in effect, create a second Canadian delegation. |

Michiel Hoogeveen replaces Derk Jan Eppink for JA21
Thijs Reuten replaces Kati Piri for Labour
Eppink and Piri were elected MPs.

Or more accurately, Michiel Hoogeveen replaces Derk Jan Eppink as he was the next candidate on FvD's 2019 list, which they both stood on. However all 4 FvD MEPs defected to JA21 and it happens that Hoogeveen did too. |

2 recent changes:
Ruza Tomasic (Croatia, Pokret za uspješnu Hrvatsku, sitting in the Conservatives and Reformists Group) stood down. She has been MEP since 2013.
She has been replaced by Ladislav Ilčić.
Joao Ferreira (Portugal, Communist) stood down to focus on his run in Lisbon local elections. He was serving as MEP since 2009. He may have made an appearance on the "good looking politicians" thread here in his early terms.
He is replaced by Joao Pimenta Lopes. He was an MEP in 2016-2019, it is the second time he got in after a resignation.
On another news, 8 MEPs have been barred from going on official Parliament election-observation missions until the end of this year because they have been accused of going on fake election-observation trips. The 8 include 5 from French Front National, 1 from Izquierda Unida and Daly and Wallace from Ireland.

Many Italian MEPs were elected to Italian Parliament last month....so new MEPs are coming in.
We have the return of Alessandra Mussolini. She joined EPP group.
