Did they actually vote this way in the end? Secret ballot. Did any of them publicly change their mind last minute like some parties elsewhere seem to have?

MaltaAnd at the very end of the list comes Malta, with 6 MEPs. 2014 Results: PL (Labour) | (S&D) | 53.4% | 3 seats | PN (Nationalist Party) | (EPP) | 40.0% | 3 seats |
All polls indicate that there has been enough of a shift towards PL for them to gain 1 seat from PN for a 4-2 split. Nobody else will get a sniff of a chance with Democratic Alternative (G-EFA) still bobbling around the 3% mark like 5 years ago. 2019 Results:PL | (S&D) | 54.3% | +0.9% | 4 seats | +1 | PN | (EPP) | 37.9% | -2.1% | 2 seats | -1 |
Pretty much as expected then. Third place went to Imperium Europa with 3%.

#ConservativeLeadershipContest Just for transparent comparison... I am not a conservative party supporter or defender #LowBar Point missed entirely. But, how does your party (or mine) select their leader? How is the Speaker of the House selected? How are officials of our government elected? In other words, what on earth are you trying to compare this election with to insinuate that a secret ballot is anything other than what you would expect?

The election of speaker does well to be taken out of the whips hands. The election of the EU commission president is perhaps the most/only important thing an mep will do, and as on any policy matter their constituent have a right to know how they voted. But there's a word for the comparisons you are drawing here: whataboutery

Well it turns out that when it comes to EU politics this forum is just as clueless as the British political establishment has been for the last 40 years.

Brexit derangement syndrome’s latest symptom. UK leftists, liberals and nats support German CDU Catholic Ideological bankruptcy, anyone? I can understand objections to the lady on the basis of her personal competence or the specifics of her campaign for the Commission presidency ( I certainly have reservations myself), but I worry about an objection on the basis that she is German, Catholic or Conservative. Surely we should not be objecting on grounds of nationality, religion or party,or what is the point? That's where the ideological bankruptcy comes in.
