No chance of the postals boosting Green over the threshold? Or SPO over FPO? Normally the Greens benefit the most from postals and the FPÖ take a knock. The latter will still almost certainly happen (enough on its on for the SPÖ to pull ahead) but given the vote patterns seen the former does not look especially likely, even if I guess you can't rule it out entirely. If the general patterns of the day vote hold o/c it will be Pilz and the SPÖ who tick up the most.

Looks like Green voters choosing the Social Democrats this time in an effort to keep the latter in second place. I have never understood, why these well-informed left students/teachers/... haven't been aware, that GREENS and Pilz needed their votes urgently, while SPÖ in second place will make SPÖ&FPÖ possible. Presumably they are well informed but not very bright.

The electoral map now shows a strong correlation between voting SPOe and adding anti-freeze to wine...

I'd be interested to know how Villach voted since I was there a few months ago.

It was so nice when I visited 😞 You've not noticed the correlation between nice places voting Tory and dumps voting Labour? Maybe the same is true in Austria

In Innsbruck-Stadt, the Greens are down a whopping 17.2%. In Leutasch in neighbouring Innsbruck-Land, the OeVP took 50.7% of the vote. Has anyone spotted any others where a party took more than half the vote? Hinterhornbach is the highest at 83.3%. Votes cast were ÖVP 46, FPÖ 6 NEOS 2 and GRÜNE 1. The biggest Green loss was in Wien 7. Neubau where they were down 21%. This page is great fun. Thanks to this link I see that the town with the ninth-lowest turnout is called Höchst ("Highest")! Does anybody know of any comparable circumstance anywhere/time where a party holds the presidency but has nothing in the legislature? The Greens still hold 4 seats in the upper house... and Van der Bellen is trying to present himself as a President who is above party politics. Will the Austrian pollsters (not to be confused with that other famous Austrian Polster, Toni) be holding any inquiries into the state of their exit polls?

Maybe the same is true in Austria if @conservativeestimate is right then you'll have a fair few dumps soon too, so you might want to watch it! Yeah but according to him, someone walking down to the road is an indication that a place is trending Conservative

Yes, but the voters who live in the right-hand photo still vote overwhelmingly for the Conservatives and I would assume the same for the left-hand photo with regards to Labour (though I'm not sure where that is). It's just that the residents in the right-hand photo were outvoted by other parts of the constituency.

Now, can we have some lovely pictures of Austrian towns with captions of how they voted, please?...

I was relatively near there yesterday and considered wandering down- but went to some pubs instead.

Will the Austrian pollsters (not to be confused with that other famous Austrian Polster, Toni) be holding any inquiries into the state of their exit polls? The pollsters have an association, but a formal inquiry as in the UK has never happened so far (after the debacle with Hofer/FPÖ 2016 they semi-secretly agreed for example to increase the number of TestPersons).

When I lived in Wivenhoe, a fellow regular at the Horse and Groom described it as 'full of plastic cockneys living in beach huts. Soweto by the Sea, basically.'
