I wouldn't be surprised if Sian Berry stood down from the list to concentrate on Brighton Pavilion.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sian Berry stood down from the list to concentrate on Brighton Pavilion. No decision’s without risk; but by stepping down, she’s clearly indicating her long term commitment to the electorate of Brighton Pavilion.

Why's that? I thought the Conservative Party was supposed to be "a very broad church" (Rishi Sunak's words, not mine).

Why is Labour selection for the list candidates seem to go on and on since ages ago?

At a guess, because it can't be done until the constituency candidates are in place, and the Croydon and Sutton selection was paused for a few months.

The Labour list candidates have apparently been decided. James Beckles of Newham has said he's fourth, and our own martinwhelton is on it somewhere. Not sure about the other names or the order.

Probably not much point in being on the Labour list this time as there’s a good chance you’ll win 13 out of the 14 constituencies…

I'd assume Sakina Shaikh and Elly Baker will be first and second, though not sure which order.

However, it is not totally implausible for the top candidate getting in if, for example, South West goes LibDem and recent council troubles of Croydon Labour leads to a relative under-performance in Crodyon and Sutton.

I need to get out more...

The Labour list is going to be: 11. Patrick Lilley (Westminster councillor for West End since 2022) I just had a bit of a "Kind Hearts and Coronets" fantasy, with Patrick Lilley in the Denis Price role and those above him in the lost as members of the D'Ascoyne family. I need to get out more... I'll mention it to him. His ward does include Berkeley Square so if any of the previous 10 nominees want to go up in a balloon they had better watch out.
