Another resignation Hannah David , Conservative councillor for Borehamwood Hillside ward on Hertsmere BC Presumably to concentrate on fighting Harrow West. Seems a bit unnecessary Indeed, she'll be at a loose end after 2015. |

Balsham looks like a fairly definite Conservative gain. The resigning councillor took it by 9 votes in 2010, the following year the Tories won by over 500 and I'd expect the Lib Dems to get killed in the county division in May.
What's your source, incidentally? The council hasn't posted anything about it on their website and the local news websites haven't noted it either.
For the record, I'm aware of a couple of other likely resignations in the Cambridgeshire area that last I heard were expected to coincide with the county council elections, and there's every chance there are more where the rumours haven't reached me.

With the spate of resignations, I thought it relevant (someone, I think Mark Senior) enquired as to whether this was sabotageable. 35 working days from today is 7 weeks plus 2 extra days due to the Easter Bank Holidays (Maundy Thursday no longer counts and May Day is after the election). So an RO can no longer be ambushed as the Byes must be by Tuesday 7th May.

As reported under defections , Paul Graysmark , Conservative councillor for Southlands ward on Adur DC has resigned his DC seat . It is presumed that he is still defending his CC seat under his new UKIP colours .

There are 20 local council by-elections known to have been called ahead of the County Council elections on 2nd May:
* 9 called for the remainder of March and
*11 called for April
There are also 89 vacancies or known impending vacancies most of which will be contested on 2nd May, an increase of 48 during the week:
