Yes, Andrew I see what you mean - he just had to be elected. Btw, following your link and scrolling through to find Piddle valley I notice something very odd about Dorchester West _ I take it a misprint on the original declaration? I presume so. It appears that the Jones vote is a typo for 1152.

Incidentally the map of Piddle Valley is of the previous ward boundaries. There were boundary changes before the 2015 elections which added the parishes of Cheselbourne and Dewlish. This may have some minor significance for our purposes as the Green candidate lives in Cheselbourne

Note quite. The bowler is holding the batsman's witley The bowler's Holding, the batsman's Willey. The story may be apocryphal. The bowler's Holding, the batsman's Willey. Aggers, please, no, stop it! I believe that was Henry Blofeld's reaction to Agnew's laughter when the former said that Ian Botham couldn't quite "get his leg over", sometime in the early 1990s. Even if the Holding/Willey incident did happen, it would've been with a different commentary team, probably in the late 1970s.

Ah, of course! That was the one part of it I was unsure of. I could've sworn Peter Willey's surname began with a 'Wh' too... but apparently it doesn't.
My Year 8 biology teacher took inordinate delight in regaling us with the earlier anecdote (in a class which also included more than a dozen 13-year-old girls).

Well we can't all have a wetwang up our sleeve... on the contrary wetwang is a very good woody sort of place name. Paul will confirm this I'm sure. that was my point.... very little can compare to wetwang. The wapentakes of wetwang - beats the Bridges of Madison county any day.

I remember years ago a documentary about Dewlish - the pub landlord sold up to an outsider and the locals were quite nasty to the new landlord. I wonder how they voted in the EU referendum.
