Erm, "numerous"? Really??
Can't say I have seen lots of descriptions of our candidate as a "Blairite" either (and he very obviously is not)

Indeed, but I was rather more questioning that there were huge numbers of such people - even amongst self-identifying "Corbynistas".
I think we are actually describing the "fringe of a fringe".

Funny thing is, Scargill isn't actually that much of a fan.
And I would say that many Corbynistas - indeed, the majority - despise GG as much as the rest of us do.

Isn't Scargill a member of the Stalin Society? Fairly certain he has addressed them, as a minimum. There was some footage on YouTube that might well have disappeared. Corbyn might have previously been friendly with some murderous authoritarian types but not that specific one!

One interesting side effect of Galloway's candidature is that numerous Hard Left / Corbynista types on social media are tweeting support for him, because Afzal Khan is supposedly a Blairite. The poor dears don't realise that they are effectively expelling themselves from the Labour Party. Good riddance to them. Is the Witchfinder General Compliance Unit still operating efficiently or has it been purged for unMarxist Activities?

Isn't Scargill a member of the Stalin Society? No, because the Stalin Society was established by people who left (or were expelled from) the Socialist Labour Party because they had fallen out with Arthur Scargill.

Given that hardly any of those I have come across are actually in the Labour Party that might be a bit tricky.

Galloway has some far-left competition: Peter Clifford of the Communist League has announced his candidature. www.mancunianmatters.co.uk/content/240376544-gorton-election-communist-league-candidate-pledges-fight-against-parasiticMr Clifford was expected to be a candidate for the Greater Manchester mayoral election, but dropped out allegedly because of the £5,000 deposit. My (perhaps unworthy) suspicion is that the CL found signature requirements an organisational challenge. (100 signatures: 10 from each of the councils in Greater Manchester.) The CL is close to the American version of the Socialist Workers Party, whose paper is confusingly named 'The Militant' (though with no connection either to our SWP or to our Militant Tendency). AFAIK the CL is only active in London and Manchester. It's composed of former members of Socialist Action (the Trot group once close to Ken Livingstone) who were expelled from SA in 1988.
