Re: Conservative candidate Pah, he's never even worked for Labour Students, as a SPAD, or made tea for the Bow Group! Not MP material clearly.

More scientists in the Commons would be great, regardless of party.

More scientists in the Commons would be great, regardless of party. I didn't think you would approve of a (soon to be) failed parliamentary candidate with a PhD

Obscure languages with a side of ferrets, not so much. Although both of their views are equally valid.

At first glance, I thought that was Diane Abbott.

Her profile on her website. Doesn't seem to have stood in any previous elections.

Do these morons not understand how the electoral system works? Was Margaret Thatcher a 'failed' Parlimentary candidate after being defeated in Dartford in 1950 and 1951? Especially case as she sat out the 1955 election. No didn't think so!

Thought it might be nice to share some of my views as a resident and leaflet deliverer. I can only comment on the visible signs of campaigning, i.e. posters, stakeboards, leaflets through my door, leaflets that I've seen when delivering.
The Lib Dem campaign is now really up to speed. We were the first to get our leaflets out, and are now delivering them at a very fast rate which presumably will continue. Obviously it isn't entirely fair to compare this to other parties (none of which have canvassed me or anything), but I've now had 3 personal letters and two leaflets delivered to me. Precious little sign of posters and stakeboards that I've seen, besides the campaign HQ.
Labour have only sent me one leaflet, and it was before they had picked a candidate so was in the format of a tribute to Gerald Kaufman, mostly in a dark green colour and only with a small section in red about the by election. I have seen another leaflet delivered to other parts of the constituency, so I presume that I'll either get one this week, or perhaps my flat was missed off when they were delivering for some reason or another. Lots of Labour stakeboards up, particularly in the western part of Fallowfield ward and Whalley Range (probably about 4 or 5 along the main road there), but I also saw one today in Rusholme ward.
I got a leaflet from the Greens yesterday, and it is very interesting. If it was a different colour, and had the party names changed about it I would think it to be one of ours. It has a bar chart, and an explanation of our general election result. It then criticised Labour for backing the government on article 50, the exact same line of attack we have taken. The reverse focused on local issues, before making a plea for help with the campaign. The strategy very clearly is to occupy our ground and squeeze us out, but how successful will that be when we have so many people in the constituency fighting this campaign?
No leaflets from Galloway, but he has a massive banner next to Levenshulme Station.
Not seen anything at all, as you might expect, from the Conservatives or UKIP.
