Mid-Staffs was the first time I ever campaigned for a Labour Party candidate. Did you campaign for another party before that?

Mid-Staffs was the first time I ever campaigned for a Labour Party candidate. A strangely drawn constituency in many ways, including the towns of Lichfield, Rugeley and Stone, which are now — more suitably some might say — all in different seats.

No doubt that Mid-Staffs was one of the Boundary Commission's "bits left over" seats in the 1983 review.

Paddy power odds on Manchester Gorton byelection Labour 1\14 Lib Dem 7\1 Con. 33\1 UKIP. 40\1 Green. 50\1 Even that figure is distinctly stingy for the Tories here. Yes, even now

Tories and UKIP have zero chance of winning Gorton, I'm surprised they both aren't 1000/1. I suppose the bookies like to put them a bit lower in order to take money from a few fantasists who support those parties.

I would personally be astounded if Leech went for this, but we'll find out this weekend from what I know.

I suspect that no of those Labour names will be the nominee. Maybe Amesbury or Chappell at best. I suspect it will be a Manchester Labour councillor though. Reid is awful, I think the article has Khan's number, and the rest have very little profile. I've never heard of several of them. Labour surely have many better choices.

He had a quick look at the map, but couldn't find a hospital there suitable for an invented closure threat.

Manchester Gorton!!! I think some on here are taking the thread off on a bird related tangent. I thought as the crow flies was a common phrase! It is, but we're suckers for a good pub. I've never thought of hovercraft as able to go the most direct route, presumably that's rather tricky in urban areas.
