Between, DW/Foggy/..., have You watched Schulz? What do You say? I mainly get my German political news from watching Welke and Ehring. Not impressed by Schulz, but I do agree that he might do slightly better as Kanzlerkandidat than Gabriel would have managed – despite the smugness.

Sure, Gabriel would have had no chance from the beginning, but i think, that Schulz will perform finally (far) worse. (Especially if he with his arrogant attitude continues to play the one, who understands the angry small people!)

If you're right, I would find it amusing to see the SPD collapse to below 20% of the vote. They still have 9 out 16 Ministerpräsidenten and are about to take back Bellevue Palace after 13 years, so they would hardly become rapidly completely irrelevant even under that scenario. We'll find out in September anyway.

I watched Schulz. Michael Elphick was good but Ian Richardson was outstanding. I would like a cup of coffee please.

Surprised to find a clear plurality of posters supporting the party of the corporate elites. We do seem to have a growing concentration of different forms of the far right here, given as well that there's as much support for the AfD as for CDU and SPD combined.

FDP leader Lindner has apparently criticised the fact that autochthonous Germans are going to jail for minor offences whilst asylum seekers get away with rape and assault. Anyone able to confirm this? Would be enough for me to change my vote from AfD to FDP.

Seems like there is some breaking of ranks in the monolithic (except for AfD) German consensus.... there is life in German politics after all..! Up until now I have been sickened by the lack of choice between the SPD and CDU/CSU. Grand coalitions are the most nauseating thing in politics, except in wartime.. By September, with Greece imminently down the S-bend, anything could happen in German politics...

anything could happen in German politics... Wrong. If you don't think Greek default won't be seismic for Germany you underestimate German sentiments on this issue. Particularly as it sets the scene for Italy to follow suit... Its the old Pottery Barn warning "You break it, you own it".

Lindner is normally naturally more on the side of the cosmopolitan elites, with emotional speeches liked by the left media. Generally I cannot see, that the "new" Lindner-FDP is anything else than hiding their usual unpopular yuppiedom behind trendy-empty shrillness (so Westerwelle squared).

Another problem could be glooming over Germany: According to high-ranked bureaucrats in Viennese ministries, indications for another MassImmigration-flood in late spring are given. I wonder, if this has to do with the ongoing speculations of Putin trying to influence the election (with help of Erdogan).

Revenge for the ArmeniaGenozid-resolution of the BundesTag, the permanent criticism of him by german MainStream-politicians&media (HumanRights-violations, undemocratic censorship, emerging dictatorship). Perhaps also due to an agreement with Putin?

Gauland stepped down as leader of AfD-Brandenburg, what probably means, that he intends to lead the federal party coming fall.

Meanwhile SPD's Schulz is courted and adored by assumingly all TalkShows on TeleVision, slightly different to AfD-politicians, who are permanently interrupted, demonstrating all viewers, how nasty they are...

Has he yet appeared on the most boring and unchallenging show in the German-speaking world, Markus Lanz?

He's hand in glove with the people traffickers.... he is just ramping up a "business segment" he has been distracted from of late.
