Don't agree about McDonald, Lewell-Buck or Morris. I would also question whether intellect makes for a good MP.
Definitely shift Blenkinsop to the first list though. Stick him in a room on his own and he would start an argument

The AcceptableRoberta Blackman Woods Nick Brown Jenny Campbell Kevan Jones Tom Blenkinsopp Alan Campbell Alex Cunningham Anna Turley Julie Elliot Catherine Mckinnell Chi Onwurah Bridget Phillipson Ian Wright Pat Glass Don't really know a number of the 2015 intake so it's hard to judge but it seems that Newcastle has a relatively decent set of labour MPs. Two I would pick out of the list as the better ones are: 1. Roberta Blackman-Woods - There was some controversy about the all-women shortlist in Durham at the time, added to the general unpopularity of the iraq war in this constituency (more strongly felt than anywhere else in county durham) and a lib dem effort to take the seat meant that the majority was slashed in 2005. However she has shown herself to be an effective MP who works well for her constituents. Was shown in 2010 when labour MPs with larger majorities lost their seats to the lib dems. 2. Kevan Jones - An effective MP, gets across his points well, particularly impressive when campaigning against claim handlers who attempted to slash compensation payments for former coal miners with health difficulties (which affected quite a number of his constituents and those around the north east).

There is certainly potential for right wing parties to do well outside the cities. Don't see any reason why we can't get 6 seats in 2020 for a start. Granted I'm not the type of right winger who would go down well.

As can be seen below, the Conservatives are putting across a relevant local, in touch message in the North East. This seems to imply that the folks at Channel 4 News think JRM is a good fit for his rural SW constituency, so putting him into an urban NE setting is bound to bring about an hilarious juxtaposition. The thing is, nobody I know from the Chew Valley is anything like him, and he surely has little in common with the people of the mining town of Midsomer Norton or those in the factory-dependent effectively Bristolian suburb of Keynsham either.

Summary - and I have been really quite generous. I mean we have a few of hopeless cases, David Tredinnick etc., but the sheer number of Labour NE MPs who are just hopeless is staggering. Largely in extremely safe Labour seats, largely hard left, almost universally Union yes men. In London very few, if any would fail to make the second list. Those in the cities rather than ex mining areas are generally better, women are generally better than men. Those Insufficiently Intellectually able to do the JobDave Anderson Ronnie Campbell Mad [ totally crazy] Mary Glindon Helen Goodman - [ actually not stupid by any means, but comically politically unaware, out of touch and not on the ball despite being in politics her entire life] Stephen Hepburn Sharon Hodgson Ian Lavery Emma Lewell-Buck Andy McDonald Ian Mearns Grahame Morris Phil Wilson The AcceptableRoberta Blackman Woods Nick Brown Jenny Campbell Kevan Jones Tom Blenkinsopp Alan Campbell Alex Cunningham Anna Turley Julie Elliot Catherine Mckinnell Chi Onwurah Bridget Phillipson Ian Wright Pat Glass As I'm pernickerty, and no-one else seems to have asked, who's Jenny Campbell? I presume you mean Jenny Chapman from Darlington? And I'd seriously take issue with your allocation of Sharon Hodgson, there is no better MP on the subject of education and SEN children.

And Hepburn, Glindon and Wilson are definitely not hard left! I happen to agree with your comment on one of them.....
