Well, it does of course; but it has no mechanism at all for such a person to actually achieve it. The PLP is the natural and obvious place for such reasoned and sensible decisions to be made. But the party has a skilfully crafted mechanism for putting the choice in the hands of very young, inexperienced and predominantly stupid groundlings to ensure that they retain theoretical and policy purity untainted by any form of office. Great scheme. I am very much in favour. Given the PLP came up with Eagle and Smith, I have doubts about their judgement. Judgement wasn't the problem here. It was people who could have come forward not doing so, presumably as they are waiting for "next time". Could be a long wait.

In terms of what is and isn't realistic over selections, do everyone please note that His Grace a) has a vote b) will know personally others that do c) will have a good idea about the rest... d) has his tongue firmly up Corbyn's arse...

Genuinely surprised that she's put "For Labour" ahead of "For Corbyn"

"......that for every drop of rain that falls, a flower grows". it's a tree that's growing here I suspect. Well, no-one is going to succeed unless they have roots in the constituency....

You can come when you like an' welcome but don't bring no discussion of politics in the house wi' you 'cos that'll only cause trouble. I'm telling you"

Isn't it about time that Barbara Roche or Chris Williamson tried for a selection?

(I could never understand why the Tories have never got rid of that tree! They would be on 50% no problem if they had, I reckon! Besides a pitchfork or something would be a better symbol for the Brave New World!

The two people I know on this picture are not local to the constituency. Not that such things matter. The Tories go in for pics like this nowadays.
