My SmartPhone finds no access to CNE, ElUniverso put their data back to zero; ElComercio reports with 93.09% counted 51.04% for Lenin...

With 94.18% counted, Moreno has 4,823,513 (51.07%), Lasso 4,621,354 (48.93%).
Lasso supporters are alleging fraud. Obviously it is a great surprise to see allegations of fraud in a closely-fought South American election.

Assange breathing a sigh of relief at this, maybe?

Assange breathing a sigh of relief at this, maybe? Lasso originally pledged to kick him out, then downgraded it to a "review" of his status.

Are you seriously comparing the British system, that when there is a illegal act the police act independently to investigate as is currently going on, with that of the South American systems. Nope. Just noting a lack of self-criticism and sense of moral superiority; to be fair to Davıd Boothroyd , my line of thought has more to do with the jingoistic nonsense around Gibraltar, and the attitude among some (not him) about 'dagos' generally.

But that's part of the problem. The process is so shambolic that it's dead easy to manufacture grievance. There's an underlying assumption here that gentlemen wouldn't cheat. And it's a nonsense. There is little proper scrutiny of registration, voting and counting processes, and the routes to enforce electoral law are limited.

Barring a (frankly derisory) fine, do you honestly expect anything to be done about the Tory Party's activities in the 2015 election?

Barring a (frankly derisory) fine, do you honestly expect anything to be done about the Tory Party's activities in the 2015 election? If it's a question that people were bending the rules about which expenses went into the returns I would hope a large fine and censor of the individual. If it was something more (and let's not forget it's not just the tories) I would expect and hope something to done. But if it is something more, surely you know that nothing will really be done?

I was in Ecuador for the first round, and there are independent scrutineers at the count. The election seems well run and generally clean. ID is required to vote. Ecuador is no banana republic, and there will be no significant electoral fraud. Everyone expected the run off to be close, but it is disappointing that Lasso is challenging the credibility of the result.
