Wouldn't have thought impact on the fishing industry a big issue - Inverurie is well inland, and Banff stopped being a fishing port many years ago. Inverurie once had a railway works. * * Compulsory railway factoid.

The football team there is still called the 'Locos' (as in locomotive), right?

Combined with the strong showing at HR I fancy the Tories may take at least 2 scalps in NE Scotland come the next GE..

Fraser, thank you.
In haste, I can't find the actual stages of vote transfers. Is it there, or do I have to hope someone will post it sometime?

Inverurie: Con - 1,302 (38.8%) SNP - 1,164 (34.6%) LD - 755 (22.5%) Lab - 139 (4.1%) Banff Con - 1,170 (44.0%) SNP - 962 (36.2%) LD - 526 (19.8%) On new ward boundaries this would probably translate to the following in a local council election: Banff and District - 1 CON 1 SNP 1 LIB Inverurie and District - 2 CON 1 SNP 1 LIB Looks like the Conservatives will be polling ahead in Aberdeenshire in 2017, this also gives some basis to my suggestion that they'll take the largest share of Councillors in Edinburgh too. Certainly a very impressive result for them. I'd be a bit wary about applying it to other areas just yet...

The SNP second preferences in Banff broke strongly for the Lib Dems.
