Much prefer English and definitely not any other national variety!! France make very fine mustards. I recommend Alsace. But I also recommend Aspall Suffolk Mustard like all things Suffolk it is more subtle and nuanced and refined that the nose-cauterizing Norwich blunt instrument!

I know this has nothing to do with the election but it was interesting to note in Andrews synopsis of the Barry election that it mentions that Barry employment was based largely on the docks and seaside employment nether of which were well paid. Au contraire my little analyst Au contraire. In the late 1970's and early 1980's in the throes of the Docks board Labour scheme it was revealed that the Barry dockers were on £560 per week, to put that into context in my own industry of gas engineering 4 year apprenticed skilled engineers were earning about £160 -£170 a week. As anybody associated with docks will know docks such as Barry and Cardiff in those days were well past their best and struggling to attract ships for berthing and unloading fees and were hugely underutilised and the Docks Labour scheme guaranteed the dockers full pay decreasing down to a still incredibly hefty weekly lump even when the dockers services were not required for weeks on end ( I know because I knew a number of dockers at Cardiff and Barry who never stopped reminding everyone about what a good number they were on) Take into consideration that the docks were virtually a closed shop for jobs for anyone not related or an associate of anyone already working there as the dockers looked after their own without a care in the world for the rest of the country's workforce and you may be able to grasp a touch of my lack of sympathy when the Docks Board Labour scheme was finally kicked into touch and virtually every docker in the country took advantage of the massive redundancy payoffs on offer. To give you an idea of how hard working dockers at the time were for their incredible wages, Cardiff docks employed 165 dockers on these massive wages most of whom spent much of their working lives sat in the house doing nothing not being required but still being paid. When the axe came all 165 took the huge redundancy payments. Now you may wonder how Cardiff docks managed to carry on operating without the services of the 165 hard working dockers? The Docks board trained up about 50 of their office staff ( my mate was one, he was a payroll clerk) and every time a ship turned up they dragged about a dozen off them out of the offices who then loaded or unloaded the ships and were handed a modest bonus in their pay packets. The same pool of office staff were bussed over to Barry docks to handle the ships over there as well when one docked. So there you have it 165 hard working Cardiff dockers plus the Barry dockers replaced by a dozen part time office staff / new dockers. As I'm sure that Churchill probably once said...... "never have so few been paid so much to do so little" ( Please note that my clarification above based on personal knowledge is not a criticism of Andrews superb contributions)

I thought so...his preview of " Burnley Central East ", makes reference to the Burnley accent, in a sightly mocking way ! Being from Bolton, he's not so much " in a glasshouse throwing stones ", but " in a Pilkington's factory chucking half-bricks " !!
As for the football jibes, oh dear !!
As ever though, really enjoy reading his work !!

It involves some horse radish and is rather sweeter than Norfolk mustard. And it was mentioned in Shakespeare (Henry IV). I think you can order it online.
