What an odd bunch of replies. Before I find something more stimulating, what exactly was the 'old' place referred to? There used to be another website very similar to this one which many of us remember and contributed to. In March 2012 it was hacked and destroyed by someone from Indonesia. This site was set up shortly afterwards as a temporary home, but the old website unfortunately proved to be irretrievable and so we've stayed around here ever since.

My suspicions about this being a somewhat unelightened, statistic obsessed forum are being confirmed by the minute. Thank you, but the quality of discussion and exchange is very poor. And the activity figures shown simply don't make sense. There is no way that such numbers can collectively generate such a limited series of viewpoints. Well, if you don't like it on here there's no barbed wire on the exit route.

There are still some members from the old site who haven't posted on here. On the balance of probabilities there must be a few who don't know about the new site which is regrettable. I only found the new site courtesy of the Hon Member for Coglad Junction, who posts on another forum which I also use. Otherwise, I'd still be absent. [Which some might prefer ]

There is no way that such numbers can collectively generate such a limited series of viewpoints. A limited series of viewpoints? I'd say that we've got a reasonably fair representation of the UK's political spectrum. We certainly have posters who are broadly representative of the active membership of all the significant British political parties (with the possible exception of Plaid Cymru & the SNP, because we've got fewer regular posters from said parties). However, we do talk psephology a lot more than policy - because that's what we're about as a forum. So unless you've been hanging around for a while in the general UK politics section, you might not have seen the full range of political viewpoints expressed.

I do wonder sometimes if having the name "Vote UK" deters Plaid and, especially, SNP supporters from contributing here...

It's a bit late to rename it "Psephology Phorum"

It's a bit late to rename it "Psephology Phorum" Surely the doktorbian solution would be something like "Vote UK, England, Principality of Wales, North Britain & Northern Ireland with Republic of Ireland and Crown Dependencies"?

It actually even does significantly well at covering International Politics including that of the one country which the UK has a land border with. I think I know more about politics in Ireland particularly the 26 counties than I did before.

I have learned an awful lot about forthcoming elections and electoral systems in other countries from lurking and occasionally posting here. The international politics threads are excellent.
I too would like to see some more SNP and Plaid supporters though, particularly as I am also a supporter. This site is good. Hey if I can get by here so can they!

There are a few of us here from or supporting Plaid and of course at least one from MK.
I have never experienced this cybernat thing you speak of, but then in Wales is Labour that have been the nasty party on the internet, with attack sites and a campaign of name calling using sock puppets. Google Hairy Mellon Jones for example.

It shows that you are above it I hope rather than learning from the Picts.

Well the serious attack sites and nastiest comments came from Labour people, for the most part the Plaid supporting blogs tend to be strong on analysis rather than character assassination.
