Hi everyone! I joined a while ago, although I mainly lurk rather than post on this forum. My name is Ciaran, I’m an economics student, and some of my hobbies are political discussion and psephology, hence why I joined. I’m broadly right-libertarian in my outlook (so somewhat politically homeless!). No names! We refer to people as Mr Pink, Mr White etc

Could I have ‘Make Taxation Theft Again’ as my alignment? Only if I can be designated as ‘make tax dodgers fry in hell’?

Good evening chaps.
I'm new here, although I have lurked on and off for 4 years.
To those who know me from another place: I'm sorry but you can't escape me. Don't worry though, I probably won't post too much Wessex related stuff.
To those who don't know me: Well now you do. I'm a Tory and have campaigned for the party on a number of occasions. That being said, I'm not a hack. I voted for the Brexit Party in the 2019 European elections and I have a real fondness for the Labour Party. I hate the Lib Dems however.
I'm extremely socially conservative (particularly on 'moral' issues) but fairly agnostic on economic issues. I still claim to be a Thatcherite however.
Hobbies include eating, drinking and sleeping. I also enjoy arguing, talking, walking and singing. My favourite drink is probably either cider or rum. I am very into my red wines too.
Well I guess that's it!

Hello everyone. I've joined because of an interest in elections and the science/statistics behind them. I'm not a member of any political party, though I'm conservative by inclination and tend to a reactionary outlook these days. Pleased to meet you.

You sound like a good'un of a real Tory and socially conservative and lover of red wine. Just have to ask for my own point of view, what is your position on real ale, railways and fox hunting?

Real ale: it's okay, not my favourite sorry Railways: Anti-HS2, think Beeching cuts should be reversed, GWR-chauvinist Foxes: They're a serious pest here in the West country but I'm not entirely comfortable with hunting Do you have a favourite grape or region for wines?

We are not 'a fit' on those answers, but no matter. I like some Australian, South African and American wines. I am not keen on German, Alsace, Spanish or South American. I favour France and Italy. Chianti and Ligurua and Prosecco. Sancere, Entre de Mers, Chablis and Champagne. Rhone, Bordeaux. The grape mix to suit the wine style.

I find a lot of South African wines have a burnt rubber twang to them.

For the record Spanish and Portuguese wines are my go-to. South African wines are good though and I'm shocked at some of the comments above.

There are some excellent Portuguese wines, and so overlooked in the UK. I suspect its bad experiences of pinotage. It can be less than nice, even the quaffing stuff.

IT's really not a wine to drink without food. It's the wine to drink with a braai - like Argentinian malbec it works with a steak or ribs, it's very alcoholic and not at all subtle, but a good one can be very good. I'm more of a white wine drinker, though. Some of the Spanish and Portuguese whites I like a lot - Alvarinho or Albarino in particular, great with seafood.
