This one was pretty much unavoidable, however.

Only 55 Labour votes were not transferred at Stage 4. You are quite correct, I misread it.

Only if a massively large proportion of Conservatives have preferenced the Lib Dem over the SNP will this be other than an SNP win.

Do we have the transfers for the Glasgow by-election?

That closes it a fair bit if the other independents transfers are similar it could be very close.
Also I am enjoying the tweeting of this election. Other councils should take note of the way Highland Council are doing this.

If the other Independent transfer is similar the Lib Dems will win for sure, I would say

These transfers not as good for Lib Dems as the previous round.
Almost 200 non-transferable votes in the round.

Damn it! The LDs only just did it, but the Conservatives are well on their way back. Excellent.

On their back suggests they had a base before in the Highland councils before!
Been a weaker area for a long time, traditionally Conservative Central Office has had to fight the local associations to put candidates up as they believed that council should be 'non-political'.
This is a really good sign for the Conservatives up north if they are doing this well in Culloden not the best area for them they could do well next May and elect multiple councillors.

yes, this is very exciting way of doing things!
Transfer rate should be much higher from the Tory than from the last of 4 independents

This really is exciting. I remember the Anti AV lot claiming that AV would be too complicated to count overnight and that would be the end of the overnight election coverage and the 'fun' would therefore be gone from the election programmes.
What utter bollox!
Credit to Highland Council for the Twitter updates too.

Don't be so narrow. I remember all these constituencies being Conservative and I meant a renascence of conservatism in Scotland not just here (I live in Torridon). And we had a lot of seats on councils but as Independent label.

Ah yes, the not-so-independent Independents! No. They were independent but being conservative in both senses tended to see things the same way and to vote as a bloc most of the time, but with no official party whip they did not need to follow a national or regional line nor to be on message. It was a better system especially for here and maximized our possible vote because no one put off by a mere label and looked at the record and local stature of the candidate.

The LDs were clearly the most transfer-friendly party in 2007 across most of Scotland. That clearly wasn't the case in 2012, looks like they've got that back (or at least in areas like this, possibly not in other areas ) which could stand them in good stead next year.
