I think you mean ' light turquoise'. Hell is generally red. Thanks for the information anyway. I've been to the Czech Senate building, but not inside the chamber itself. The whole institution seems ill-conceived. You'd think they'd have seen low turnouts like this coming when it was established. I wonder how long it would take to count all the votes if turnout were actually healthy? "hell" means "light" - are you not a fan of German beer? I've known that for 22 years, but not all members of this forum speak German.

...so ANO ended far below the ~30% polled for the next GeneralElection. The Pirates established as a nation-wide party now (thus fragmentating the OpPosition even more).

I thought, that the RunOffs would be held next WeekEnd, but they happened yesterDay. The TurnOut was incredibly low - 1/6 - and CSSD lost all their seats, while ANO'11 won 1 (narrowly against CSSD, with a participation below 8%, the by-far worst in any of the 27 seats, what does also indicate, that the GovernmentSupporters stood massively at home). The coalition is now backed by exactly 8/81 senators (5 ANO'11, 3 CSSD, 0 KSCM), while the CentreRight - EPP-member STAN ("Mayors&Ind." 18), ODS (19), TOP'09 (5) - alone have a majority (will affect at least the designations for the SupremeCourt).

With a TurnOut below 20% the unpopular government has all in all lost quasi no Senate-seats in the runOffs toDay (KDU-CSL gained, what coalitionPartner STAN lost). Quite a disAppointment for ANO, even after an already weak first round. Narrow results mostly in the east.

Yes, they are (thus my "the unpopular government has all in all lost quasi no Senate-seats").

The results for the first round of the Czech presidential election are almost complete.
Pavel looks like the likely second round winner based on polling/ the odds. Turnout was higher than the 2021 legislative election despite the president holding relatively few powers.

I've only been in Prague for one presidential election and for years I had the poster on my walls to prove it. It read simply "Havel na Hrad!" Would I now have to change the first letter to a P?

If the two candidates had 35.3% and 35.0% in the first round, then quite obviously neither of them was anywhere near “winning”. The purpose of the first round (if not to produce a winner) is to produce the top two candidates for the second round, in which both have “won” the first round.

Pavel is the clear winner of the second round with 58.32% of the vote after all polling stations processed.
He leads in all regions save for Karlovy Vary and Ústecký (in the north-west, and the Moravian-Silesian region in the north-east.

As is often the case in the countries where it could be, quite a striking difference between repopulated ethnically-cleansed regions and the rest of the country.

Another tell is that narrow strip in southern Moravia, along the Austrian border, which was never particularly industrial but was German back in the old days.

In Poland we've noted Poland A and Poland B, but that the repopulate Recovered Territories have higher rates of educational achievement and economic success-and when full of German speakers, they were major sources of emigrants and were poorer and more backward. Whereas the repopulated Sudetenland consistently has Czechia's worst levels of educational achievement and economic success-and when full of German speakers were fairly well-off and successful.
