The Czechs are electing a third of their 81member Senate for a six year term in two rounds (7-8 October with a run-off 14-15 October), and 13 regional councils (all except the city of Prague) simultaneously with the first Senate round. Its the 27 yellow constituencies on the map that are up for election. These elections will act as a "dress-rehearsal" for the parliamentary elections next year, so the results should be somewhat interesting.

I'm pleased that Czechia is starting to gain currency, Czech Republic is ungainly. The main problem as people might confuse it with Chechnya. If that was Putin, anything could happen!

The populist, anti-corruption party ANO, owned and led by Slovak born oligarch and Finance Minister Andrej Babis won the regional elections and has 14 candidates in the run-off. ANO got a plurality in 9 of 13 regions, the Social Democrats in 2.
Preliminary results:
ANO 21.1 Social Democrats 15.3 Communists 10.6 Civic Democrats 9.4
Turnout, was a paltry 34.3%, down from 36.9% in 2012.

ANO got a plurality in 9 of 13 regions The last few times CSSD or ODS swept all regions, making it quite boring.

Surprisingly CSSD remained on first place in southern Bohemia, the more remote part (so except Moravia), but was passed by ANO in their traditional StrongHolds (MorawianSilesia and north[western] Bohemia)!

ANO became the biggest parti in nine regions, the Social Democrats won Southern Bohemia and the adjacent Vysočina, Mayors for Liberec Region held on to Liberec in the north, and the Christian and Democratic Union (KDU-ČSL) won Zlín in Eastern Morovia. Top 10 over regional seats

Senate run-offs with the leading party first (nominally independents affiliated with a party placed under that party). The Brno constituencies do not have separate names. 1. Karlovy Vary: Mayors and Independents v. ANO 4. Most: S.cz vs. Independet 7. Plzeň-město: Patriotic Citizens vs. Social Democrats 10. Český Krumlov: ODS vs. Social Democrats 13. Tábor: ANO vs. Social Democrats 16. Beroun: ODS vs. ANO 19. Praha 11: ANO vs. Movement for Prague 1122. Praha 10: Christian Democratic Union vs. TOP 09 25. Praha 6: TOP 09 vs. Social Democrats 28. Mělník: Mayors and Independents vs. ODS 31. Ústí nad Labem: Severočeši.cz vs. ANO 34. Liberec: Mayors for Liberec vs. ANO (but 45.3% to the Mayors' candidate, so not competitive) 37. Jičín: TOP vs. ANO 40. Kutná Hora: Social Democrats vs. Mayors and Independents 43. Pardubice: Independent SoCon vs. ANO 46. Ústí nad Orlicí: Christian Democratic Union vs. ANO 49. Blansko: Christian Democratic Union vs. ODS 52. Jihlava: ODS vs. Christian Democratic Union 55. Brno-město: ANO vs. Social Democrats58. Brno-město: ANO vs. Christian Democratic Union 61. Olomouc: ANO vs. Christian Democratic Union64. Bruntál: ANO vs. Communists 67. Nový Jičín: Greens vs. Communists (Green candidate Orel Petr was backed by the Christian Democrats and got 33.7%) 70. Ostrava-město: NEZÁVISLÍ (Independently) vs. centre-right independent backed by ODS, TOP 09 and the Party of Freeholders in the Czech Republic 73. Frýdek-Místek: Citizens Together - The Independents ("OSN") vs. Christian Democratic Union 76. Kroměříž: Christian Democratic Union vs. ANO 79. Hodonín: Christian Democratic Union vs. Social Democrats List of incumbents: www.senat.cz/senat/volby/v2016-eng.php?ke_dni=9.10.2016&O=10The winners in bold. Big win for the Christian Democrats (especially in Moravia) and disappointing for ANO.

The main effect of this election is that it gives Andrej Babiš the status to run for PM next year. Its an interesting scenario that PM Bohuslav Sobotka has his most dangerous rival inside the government.
An oligarch leading a Czech government would have seen far fetched ten years ago, but it might happen.

It's understandable that many Czechs see the appeal of an Anti Corruption Party but the trouble with such outfits is that... well ask people from Swansea who remember the 70s.

No, but the old Senate was:
Social Democrats 33 ODS 14 Christian Democrats 9 ANO 4 Mayors and independents 3 TOP 09 3 Communists 3 Party of Civic Rights 2 Greens 2 S.cz 2 Independents 6
You have the list of incumbents in my post, so you should be able to calculate it.
