As a general rule BBC Parliament likes to replay elections that are anniversaries of the year (for instance in 2016 we had the replay of the 1966 election held 50 years ago) so therefore it does take a massive genius to work out that next year 2017 we have a double header of the 1992 and the 1997 general elections (which I know will please a lot of Labour members on this board), so therefore I would like to formally start work on those two elections (starting off with 1992) to create a new set of graphics (via Powerpoint) which we can tweet as the election is replayed whenever the BBC do so. However there is one graphic that I could never hope to replicate and that is the monster that was the re-launched BBC swingometer  It was absolutely huge if I recall correctly as the pendulum itself needed three people to manhandle it and it was divided by region as well as swing needed to gain but I cannot work out how to do that in a form that would work on a live tweeting exercise and have come to the conclusion the only way would be to have a webpage that we can link to it having placed it a position so that it shows the national swing (as well as the seats changing hands) as the replay goes on, so is there anyone who feels up for that challenge (or is it a request too far?) |

I think that you're making too much work for yourself. The effort of making all the individual swings and graphics would detract from the excitement and atmosphere of the results in their own time. You could ask australianswingvoter to do 600 individual results with bar charts and swings, all coloured in with crayon. |

Which is precisely the reason it was dropped in both 83 and 87 (because it could only deal with a Con / Lab swing) not a Con / Alliance swing or a Lab / Alliance swing |

So you built up my hopes of a replay, and nothing is actually happening............. There will be in 2017 (which is only three months away now) because (as has been noted) we have a triple header of 1987, 1992 and 1997 |

Why isn't it on the 9th itself? I can get away with a lazy sunday in front of the TV then... I guess because BBC Parliament has an arrangement with CSPAN to show three hours on Sunday - some of this is a live phone-in which takes international calls. |

The answer to the 'problem' of English people mispronouncing the names of Welsh constituencies is to not give them silly unpronounceable names in the first place |
