3: Mid Ulster District Council, Northern Ireland.
The final council to cover in Northern Ireland is Mid Ulster, chance that Sinn Féin might be able to get a majority here, the challenge for the other parties will be to stop them.

2: Gravesham Borough Council, Kent, South East.
Back to to look at Gravesham. Currently controlled by a bunch of councillors who resigned from the Conservatives. With the majority not standing again, there's a good chance of either Labour or the Tories taking this, and with things the way they are, I'm going Labour. Labour need a net gain of 3 to gain the council, the Conservatives need 12. My prediction: Labour GAIN from NOC.

1: Teignbridge District Council, Devon, South West.
The last map, Teignbridge in Devon will be a Lib Dem hope for today. It might be a long shot for them to gain a majority but they will definitely be looking to become largest party in an NOC situation. Boundary changes: 25 wards to 24, 46 seats to 47. My prediction: NOC GAIN from Conservative. And I'm done... now for the result maps.

Map of local authority control in England following yesterday's elections.
Grey = NOC Pink = Independent Turqouise = Residents Association
Unfortunately I don't have a blank map with the merged Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole authority but I don't think it looks too bad.

Top party by civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire (contested elections only)
Pink = Independents (contested election)
Orange = Lib Dems Grey = Uncontested or inactive parish council
As you would expect, independents are the dominant force but the Lib Dems are clearly a strong local force in Hessle and Beverley. I believe Labour had the most seats on Goole Town Council until last week.

Just open your blank map in MS Paint (or any other graphics program) and use the eraser tool to remove the defunct boundaries.

Can I just say congratulations to yorkshireluke for a brilliant series of maps over the last 100 days. Absolutely, but I may not be alone in finding its best to have 2 screens alongside, with one showing the yorkshireluke maps and the other the maps on LEAP - one gives the seat breakdown by ward, the other has the names and the inimitable cartograms and I always need both to make proper sense of what I am looking at. This will be even more true as the result maps start to come in.

So no Conservative councillors in the Bedford urban area itself - not sure that has happened before

Yes that map is quite horrendously orange now. A slight correction, or rather clarification, on your numbers of councillors for each party. You have 'Other' as down 2 and Independents as up 3. The 2 'others' were the Peasedown candidates who stood as No Politics Just Peasedown in 2015 and stood just as Independents this time, but are the same two people, and were always part of the Independent group on the council from 2015.
