There's a lot we can talk about on this subject, but mostly I wish to draw to your attention one Paul Manafort a senior figure on the Trump campaign who is literally on the Kremlin's payroll.

There's a part of the American Right that felt disappointed by Solzhenitsyn. But there's clearly part that still thinks he was bob-on entirely. And Putin fits that bill.

"Manafort is also known for his successful lobbying efforts on behalf of political leaders like Jonas Savimbi and Viktor Yanukovych and foreign dictators such as Ferdinand Marcos, Siad Barre and Mobutu Sese Seko."Quite a collection..

Wouldn't it be awful for the Americans to elect a President who had been influenced by Putin and other dictators As if anything wasn't for sale with Putin....

As if anything wasn't for sale with Putin.... We're talking Clinton's corruption here not Putin's. Putin isn't running for US President. He is by proxy.

No, as in he is indirectly aiding Trump just like he is backing a number of anti-EU populist parties on the continent.

"At a minimum, Trump appears to have a deep financial dependence on Russian money from persons close to Putin. And this is matched to a conspicuous solicitousness to Russian foreign policy interests where they come into conflict with US policies which go back decades through administrations of both parties. There is also something between a non-trivial and a substantial amount of evidence suggesting Putin-backed financial support for Trump or a non-tacit alliance between the two men."

No, as in he is indirectly aiding Trump just like he is backing a number of anti-EU populist parties on the continent. Terrible him boosting the propaganda efforts of parties he thinks are most favourable to his interests. Its not as if every major power in modern history hasn't done the same thing, including the UK and the US. At least he isn't using proxy groups to violently overthrow and/or rebel against governments he doesn't like. That's more a Hillary Clinton thing. You can not be serious...

You have heard of a country called Ukraine, right? Oh yes of course I forgot. That's the country where the EU, with US backing, used proxy groups to run a violent putsch against a democratically elected President they didn't like. You're quite right, Putin is using proxy forces to violently rebel against the new government of Ukraine established by the putsch. I stand corrected. You really are too good to be true. I reckon you're really a stone cold Blairite having a laugh at all our expense. Bravo sir, bravo!

The EU did use proxy groups to run the putsch against the then President. The US backed this EU action. Putin is using proxy forces to fight against the new government. Those are all factual statements. Well one out of three ain't bad I suppose...

Well one out of three ain't bad I suppose... I guess you mean the third one. Who do you think was behind the putsch? (And no the correct answer to that question is not 'the Ukrainian people', that's not how the world works.) I like people like you, people who's cognitive dissonance is of the same ilk as those who think the building of the pyramids can only be down to alien intervention, makes for added entertainment at dull moments.

can anyone outline to me in what way Russia or Putin represents any threat to me or my nation? Well, if we knew that, his Secret Service wouldn't have been doing their job properly...

If we dont know that then our secret services are not doing their properly. Does he seek to overthrow the UK goverment, as the Soviet Union sought? Well, Her Majesty's Most Loyal Opposition seems to see that as a secondary concern behind bickering, so why should Putin prioritise it?

can anyone outline to me in what way Russia or Putin represents any threat to me or my nation? It's a far off land off land of which we know little! Now which party did the author of that speech belong to?
