For a moment, I thought that Robert Wall might be the same person who was the leader of the Conservative group on Bristol city council for many years, but then remembered that he died in 2009. Phil Randle was the Green candidate for South West Wiltshire in the 2015 GE. Jeff Osborn had built up a huge personal vote here, so will be interesting to see where it goes now.

He rather owned a party shop in Reading for 30 years, taking over the family business which opened in the 30's (they sadly had to close in 2011).

As a politician and psephologist, I live for the pleasure of information like that.

Marchog - Gwynedd - Chris O’Neil (Independent) resigned after admitting to choking one of his employees during an argument over wages. He blamed the incident on the stress of being a councillor and so resigned. He was a councillor since 2012.2012: Ind 365/247/76, Lab 218/143 2008: Lab 247/184, Ind 2022004: Lab 324/172, Ind 303 The Independent who polled 76 votes in 2012 was the same one who polled 202 in 2008 and 303 in 2004. The other 'Independents' were (are) members of a local Left (theoretically) populist (undeniably) outfit. Very much Local Independents For Local People.

And, yes, local politics in Bangor has pretty much always been what the internet would describe as a dumpster fire...

I noticed, on the various public publications of the candidates, than the Labour candidates of the week are mostly Corbynites and/or firmly on the left-wing of the party, not only in unwinnable seats (where it's true since a long time), but also in safe seats (the candidate in Newham Facebook page feature endorsements by McDonnell, Mark Serwotka and various Momentum members).
So, it seems the members who joined last year to support Corbyn are involving in the life of the party (and most likely, are nudged towards leafleting). I'm surprised, I expected most to not involve and let their subscription unrenewed.

"Endorsed by Mark Serwotka" is not a good thing. To be fair to the candidate, he was a PCS union rep for a long time. Obviously, the PCS leader endorses candidates from PCS. I would also say the pro-Corbyn members would be dumb to not try to get selected. Why leaving open seats to people from other factions without opposition?

Yeah, he's a dick. But also an effective union leader by all accounts. Is he? His union is practically broke and its members are getting constantly shafted by the government. A complete waste of space and membership fees, if you ask me. As a former member of PCS I can confirm it is not an effective union, although it has individuals who are effective. It depends on who you get as your rep.

Just curious does anyone think the Cons will get a Theresa style bounce in today's elections or will it make no difference.

It's no surprise to see a Hard Left candidate selected in Islington; in Newham there is a factional tussle going on at the moment by all accounts. Thanks, didn't scrolled down enough in her case. Still, that's quite a change from a few months ago, where openly pro-Corbyn candidates were uncommon and almost always in unwinnable areas.
