The two seats became vacant earlier this week, they were UKIP. Well they were ex-UKIP independents, giving us a good opportunity to re-take the seats.

I was cross posting from elsewhere, I thought I'd read in one thread about the relevant parish council but I was on a train with limited signal so couldn't check. It was a parish by-election in the Upton Heath Ward of Upton-By-Chester. Was Con v LD. Conservative 448, Liberal Democrat 388 - replaces a Labour Councillor May 2015: Labour 893 / 874/ 855 / 851 / 783 / 778 - 5 elected, Conservative: 789 / 789 / 749 - 2 elected, Liberal Democrat: 577 / 526, No Description: 577 / 526 Only 2 of the 5 Labour Councillors elected in 2015 remain on the Council along with both Conservatives then elected. Apart from the Conservative elected last week the other new Councillors are the unsuccessful Conservative in May 2015 co-opted on 9th May 2016 along with another of unknown party co-opted on 4th April 2016.

There are 31 known by-elections during July. I can see some abysmal turnouts given that it's holiday season could some of these by-elections not have been held over until late summer early autumn.
