On the one hand the "AntiFa"-chiqueria has collected lots of money for v.d.Bellen - even on the land I have seen more of his posters, contrary to last time. In the last months few pollsters released few polls - all have had v.d.Bellen slightly ahead - and only Gallup have published regularily and only they have had Hofer ahead (53, later 52,...). Now Gallup is at 50:50.
Is it a trend? Or herding? Margin of error?

Even a huge summit of certain OutSiders is envisionable: Trump, Putin, China, Iran, Maduro, Duherte, Mohdi, Erdogan, Orban, Kacynski, Nikolic, Zeman, Fico, Moldavia, Bulgaria, Grillo?,...

Last night happened the first of 4 TeleVision-debates on a new and rather unknown channel, run by www.oe24.at (a tabloid-daily very close to SPÖ). Most of the (few?) watchers saw Hofer as winner (54%). |

Today (GMT) took the second of four debates place, this time at a bigger, but still rather small private channel (PULS4), that was once again quite openly biased (in order to please SPÖVP?). Also by asking watchers (via OGM), who would be better for national reunification (v.d.Bellen slightly ahead, no surprise), who would represent Austria better abroad (now a tossup after a huge lead of v.d.Bellen once [Trump, visits of Hofer in EastEurope]), who won the debate: Hofer 49%, v.d.Bellen 41%.

The candidates had to declare their expenditures until today:
3.5+3.5=7.1 v.d.Bellen
3.3+2.6=5.8 Hofer
3.1 Hundstorfer (SPÖ)
2.4 Khol (ÖVP)
0.9 Griss (Ind./NEOS)
Since summer v.d.Bellen has received 0.8 from the GREENS and 0.04 from SPÖ-Vienna, 2.73 from (semi)private "AntiFa"-NetWorks.
There are clearly less Hofer-posters visible (at least in my area [SalzburgCity]).

OGM doesn't risk to publish the results of the direct question; but they write, that 86% have made their decision, only 90% of FPÖ-supporters (bad for Hofer) and that young people are most likely for defecting to abstention (good for him).
Unsurprisingly 22% of SPÖ-voters are undecided and 29% of ÖVP's.
The latter fact let both candidates appear as ÖVP-affine as possible: v.d.Bellen has attended in summer quasi every FolkFestival in traditional costume, spoke in Tyrolean dialect aso. while Hofer placarded to add to the InaugurationOath "with God's help".
Hofer gets support from Grasser (exFinanceMinister under ÖVP&FPÖ), v.Staa (exFM Tyrol) and Lopatka (unpopular leader of ÖVP's ParliamentaryFaction).
V.d.Bellen therefor from former PartyLeaders (Busek, Molterer, Pröll jr.), EU-politicians (Fischler, Molterer, Karas), some exFM of Vorarlberg, hundreds of mayors&councillors (also mainly from Tyrol&Vorarlberg).

They and AssociatedPress offer LiveStreaming "mostly for foreigners" (probably only in German, i fear).

The debate on a small private channel was very silent, both trying to avoid mistakes.
Still, while Hofer had to fight with the moderator - 2-3 times he was swimming and managed to escape by including both contrahents, so that all spoke at the same time and Hofer survived - v.d.Bellen was virtually not alive, at some times a physical collapse in the studio seemed possible.
Like most i assume, that a high turnout would help rather v.d.Bellen, thus his MinimalEnergy-appearence yesterday wasn't too good.
