Not awfully fascinating seeing as its between two independents, but seeing as its the only contest this week as far as I know, there was an election today for a parish councillor in Corfe Castle.

Ceredigion County Council's page stating which vancancies are happening on what community councils usually highlights new information by turning the bar yellow for the community council affected, however if you visit www.ceredigion.gov.uk/your-council/voting-elections/town-community-councils/ you will notice all the bars are green (indicating no changes). This is not the case for as of today (June 24th 2021) we have the following: Vacancy pending by-election request: One for Cilennin ward on Cilennin Community Council, One on Llanarth Community Council, One for Sulien ward on Llanbadarn Fawr Community Council, One for Llandysiliogogo Community Council Vacancy to be filled by co-option: One for Llanilar Community Council By-election nominations: Four for Lampeter Can I ask those expert on this whether Ceredigion is not exactly breaking any rules about notifying vacancies, but at the same time isn't exactly going out of its way to let people outside the communities affected know what is happening?

The law only concerns itself with the publication of the official notice of vacancy document. It has nothing to say on the matter of website design or graphics.

Newark TC, Devon ward Steven John Vickers (Conservative Party) 515 Debbie Antcliff (Labour Party) 367 Stephanie Louise Harrison (Green Party) 139 My parents and sister & brother-in-law's ward (I was visiting at the weekend). Zero evidence of any election whatsoever (or in the district by-election in the adjacent Bridge district ward). Not terribly surprised at the result.

Belper Town Council - South Ward
Jyoti Wilkinson - Lab (ex-caseworker for Chris Williamson), suspended by the party for posting on social media calling Prince Philip a racist immediately following his death, has resigned his seat.
That's now four resignations by Labour since winning all 16 seats in 2019.
There is already a by-election in Central ward in two weeks time. The Greens gained the previous South Ward vacancy in May.

Also on 22 July, there is a by-election in Handforth (West) to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Aled Brereton. The candidates are Steve Cunningham (Independent) and Sam Milward (No Description).

Are you going to stand? To misquote Phineas and Ferb, "Yes, yes I did" and got absolutely no where fast. Neither myself or the other unselected nominee got any votes at all. All of the available votes (chairman abstained) went to the person who was appointed. Mr. Gareth Flynn

Alfreton Town Council
Ben Slade, one of two conservative councillors elected in 2019 has resigned. 2021 saw the Conservatives winning the borough ward for the first time.
There will be a by-election in West Ward on the 19th August.

Horsforth TC, Brownberrie ward Meg Townsley (L Dem) 444 Joel David Mercer (C) 293 Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative That is quite a Tory part of Horsforth, so a good result for the Lib Dems. Perhaps showing they are trying to get back in contention in Horsforth (where I was a councillor a few aeons ago). I imagine Meg is a relative of the long standing councillor Chris Townsley, who retired a few years ago.

Not quite a by election, but as it results from no one standing in one it may as well go here. Chedington Parish Council in (western) Dorset is to be dissolved as no one has stood for the vacant seats after nominations have been opened repeatedly.

Not correct! The by-election in the St. Thomas' ward of Wells City Council is a Lib Dem hold.
Tony Robbins (Lib Dem) had served on the City Council for 12 years, when he was re-elected in May 2019 for another four year term. Barely six months later, he resigned his seat and Joseph Parker (Lib Dem) held the seat in the ensuing by-election on 7 February 2020. Now Joseph Parker has resigned and his seat has been held by Tony Robbins, returning to the city council again.
There were two city council by-elections in Wells on 6 May, neither of which were contested by the Lib Dems.
St. Cuthbert - Con 534, Wells Independents 397, Lab 262 St. Thomas' - Con 603, Wells Independents 579, Lab 377 - Con hold, following the resignation of Celia Wride (Con).
The Lib Dems also ceded the Wells St. Thomas seat on Mendip District Council on 6 May, following the resignation of Caroline McKinnell (Lib Dem). The same Tony Robbins was selected to defend the seat for the Lib Dems, but the returning officer rejected his nomination papers, since the home address provided "does not comply" with election regulations laid down in 2006.
No wonder the ALDC are celebrating, after this chequered history.

I might add that there is a further vacancy on Wells City Council in St. Thomas' ward, caused by the resignation of Oliver Hartley (Lib Dem).
