Melksham is a LD gain LD 302 Con 115 Ind 37, 22 I have a granddaughter living in Melksham. She and her husband both teachers. Must remember to ask whether they remembered to vote. Doesn't look as though it would have mattered anyway.

they may not live in that ward possibly? I wasn't quite sure of that myself, but looking at the maps I'm fairly sure they are indeed inside Melksham East, which is the ward in question. I'm still not sure who resigned, but I think the ward was divided between Tories and whatever the localists there were called , so either way its a Lib Dem gain, FWIW.

A Labour gain from Winsford's Salt of the Earth indies in Dene ward, Winsford Town Council y'day. Winsford Salt of the Earth got 190 votes to Labour’s 171, but they lost because they nominated 2 candidates in a single member election…

Did they not know how many vacancies there were? 2. Did the Returning Officer not mention the first set of papers? 3. Is there a split in the party and a battle for control? 4. Is one a spoiler candidate? 5. Are they turning into the OMRLP? 6. Was this a stunt to try and make the point the parish council is ridiculous We deserve to be told!

By-election to be held for Little Sandhurst on Sandhurst Town Council. November 9th. Conservative resignation.
At the May 2023 elections, the Lib Dems topped the poll with 54.2% vs the Tory 45.8%. However, the Lib Dems only managed to find one candidate for a slate of 6, so it was 5 Conservatives, 1 Lib Dem.
Only 2 candidates: Gill Birch (Conservative) and Nicky Coppins (Liberal Democrats)
