Sad to report that Harry Harpham has died, just a few months after he was elected.

Very sad news. It is always sad when an MP dies but it seems even more tragic when they had just entered the Commons.

He asked a question at PMQs two weeks ago so must have been fairly sudden.

Wow. I'd been emailing him about the boundary review just a couple of months ago. Very unexpected.

SB&H is one of those seats where the MP wins at the Labour selection meeting, not at the ballot box. We'll know who the next MP is just a week or so after the funeral.

The electoral system serves the voters of this area perfectly well. A majority consistently decide that their interests are best served by the election of a Labour MP, and a Labour MP is what they get.

No, this is reserved for Ken Livingstone. That'd be utter madness.

Erm, I don't think that post was entirely serious - any more than the ones immediately above it were

Very sad news. It is always sad when an MP dies but it seems even more tragic when they had just entered the Commons. Absolutely, it was the same with Mike Carr in Bootle in 1990, elected at a by-election and then eight weeks later, he died and caused another one. I can't remember the last time a newly elected MP (at a general election) died before the first anniversary of his election.
