The outgoing government deserves every bit of this hammering. Trouble is, the people who are benefiting don't exactly... oh well. Dame Enda could have done a much worse job- and ultimately who could have done a better one? Dire campaign, mind.

Kerry and Dublin Bay North both appear to have delivered their first preference votes. Michael Healy-Rae has quota on first count; Danny Healy-Rae is runner-up.

RTE reporting that, because of transfers, Fianna Fail could get more seats than Fine Gael, therefore be largest party. That's Fianna Fail, everyone. Come back, all is forgiven. To be fair, if we were going to rule out Irish parties on the basis of culpable incompetence in government, we'd be looking at a SF/AAA-PBP government, with the Healy-Raes as the official opposition. I'm biased, but there's FG-Lab vaguely principled, roughly coherent, mild incompetence. and then there's Fianna Fail venal, corrupt, ideologically bankrupt, 'last Socialist in Ireland' incompetent clusterfuck, waltzing back in apparently as the biggest party at the first chance.

Lucinda Creighton has been eliminated. I think that was Renua's only real hope.

The transfer pool available does not look encouraging.

Shockingly poor vote balancing though and it will serious hamper their chances of taking a second seat. Good! Along with a terrible transfer from Cowan's surplus it did cost them a second seat although it isn't good because SF were the beneficiaries, taking the third seat by just 170 votes. FF polled 1.51 quotas and had some incumbents who were transfer friendly towards them yet missed out to SF who had just 0.44 quotas. Awful vote management.

Some dreadful vote management by the Sinners in Donegal which in all probability will see them lose a seat. Lol. As a result they have asked for a full recount.

Though latest intelligence is that FG might just hold on to biggest party status?

Despite its repulsive character and disastrous record, its long-term grip on a large part of the electorate remains seemingly unshakeable.

Jas on the Atlas Forum has projected final totals of FG 51 FF 44 SF 24 Ind 12 Lab 6 AAA-PBP 6 IA 6 Independents for Change 4 SD 3 Grn 2 WUAG 1 Renua 0. Poor vote balancing seems to have cost FF about three or four seats.
