I notice from the 1964 Haringey results that Mr G De Vote topped the poll for Labour in Coleraine ward. I like to think his first name was Gedout....

Reading seems to be missing, at any rate it is not in the unitary councils list.

Reading seems to be missing, at any rate it is not in the unitary councils list. It's in the Pre-Unitary districts list.... That seems to only give results to 1996 unless I am reading it wrong. All other councils seem to have results since up to around 2011.

Reading was a district under Berkshire. It became a unitary council (on the same boundaries) in 1997. So you'll find results up to 1996 in the pre-unitary districts, and from 1997 in the English unitaries.

My original point is that it is missing from the list in english unitaries: www.electionscentre.co.uk/?page_id=2399

That's where they should be , and it's where East Berkshire and Wokingham are (being the others bits when Berkshire CC ceased to exist) - but of Reading there is no sign.

It was in June 1984 that Colin Rallings and Michael Thrasher were first commissioned by the Local Government Chronicle to write about local government byelections. Their first article appeared in the Local Government Chronicle of 20 July 1984. The 'Elections Centre' was originally known as the Local Government Chronicle Elections Centre and seems to have started in order to publish the 1985 county council election results.

cons elected in Bolsover I was always told that never happened. Weird results from Wandsworths history too. Lab and Communist at 83% combined in Queenstown in 1968 - the Cons won the ward on GE day

This is a deliberate and clever ploy to make us forget the Tebbit on Thatcher programme that is on tonight.
