Figge's Marsh ward, Merton - Peter Walker (Lab) resigned in protest at the budget cuts to social care. Proof: I think this may be the same Peter Walker who featured often in Labour Weekly many years ago. Never actually met him, as far as I can recall.

The ward might at least live up to its name by electing three Independent councillors who all sit in different groups to each other.

I have been informed by a reasonably reliable source that Croydon councillor Emily Benn (Lab, West Thornton) has resigned as she has a new job in New York.

Still shown on the council's list of councillors but I had a hint from someone who should know that a council byelection was likely in Croydon in May.

A very reliable source has confirmed these 2 Croydon posts to me too now:
"Yes, announced to local media earlier today
Doesn’t take effect until Thurs, hence still on council website
Timed to coincide with Mayoral ballot so folks off to polls anyway…!"

I also know of a likely byelection in Hackney, and a possible one in Barnet, being planned to take place on 5 May at the same time as the GLA elections.
