In this election, the governing right-wing parties, the Social Democrats and the People's Party, will be standing joint lists under the 'Portugal Ahead' banner, which they also did in last year's European elections in Portugal.
Opinion polls currently show the Socialists (PS) struggling to maintain a lead over the Portugal Ahead alliance (PSD/CDS-PP) and that some new parties may enter the Assembly (e.g. Livre, a green party in Portugal which unlike the Portuguese Ecologists is not linked to the Portuguese Communists, and is more moderate, and an Earth Party splinter group called the Democratic Republican Party).

How about the Earth Party itself - any chance of them gaining first representation following their breakthrough in the European elections last year?

The Earth Party has gone into decline since they elected 2 MEPs last year-one of their MEPs, Antonio Marinho e Pinto, has left and they are languishing in the polls, struggling to achieve 1% in them.

Blimey, a vote for the National Renovators! Now they are a rum outfit.
A quick mention of the bizarre Democratic Party of the Atlantic, who are a curious mix of the far- Right and centre-left, and exist "to defend the ultramarine status of Madeira and the Azores".

Tbh I suspect the best result for the PSD coalition would be a socialist minority. It would probably collapse quickly and usher in a centre-right majority.

In which constituency will the LIVRE list win that seat, incidentally?
Looks like a grand left alliance or a grand coalition of PDS-PP (i.e. PaF), and PS would have to form if this exit poll was correct...

My belief is that the green LIVRE list is taking away votes from the CDU (Democratic Unitarian Coalition) which is an alliance between the Portuguese Communists and Ecologists.

Actually, with almost 99% of votes counted, the PSD-PP alliance only has 89 seats. Quite a few districts in Lisbon (Lisboa) have yet to declare as of now.

RTP report PPD PDS on 36.82%, PS on 32.37%. I've forgotten who is in which bloc.
Turnout an awful 56.89%.

The result reminds me of that ExitPoll for the GE (CON at 316, ...).

Except for the fact that the PaF alliance has now ended up with fewer seats than PDS received in 2011-PaF are down to 104 seats. The more left-wing parties did much better out of this election, with the Left Bloc up to 19 seats (their best ever result) and the Democratic Unitarian Coalition up to 17.
The only two viable coalition options are either a grand coalition between the PaF and PS (which in my opinion would be politically suicidal for the PS given how badly equivalent coalitions have fared elsewhere in Europe e.g. in the Netherlands and in Ireland) or a coalition of the centre-left and left between PS, BE, and CDU.

The fact that the previous PS leader is under suspicion of corruption can't have helped - it's the second lousy turnout in a row as well
