Yes, I wasn't too sure if Labour did carry Hastings as they certainly won the most wards across the town but the raw figures might have given the Tories the advantage. I'm guessing that, apart from Brighton and Hove, the only other major settlements in the county carried by a party other than the Conservatives were Lewes town and possibly Newhaven?

Would be very nice to see County Durham and Northumberland but can imagine both could be quite difficult, especially in County Durham due to the large number of independent candidates who stand at local elections.

Just a heads up. I've almost completed 1992 notionals for Scotland as an experiment, collapsed into 1994 Regional Wards (on which the 1997 to 2001/2007 seats were based) I've used Regional election results as a base as they are more partisan and used a mix of local data and some of the 2007 stuff for Highlands/Borders/D&G to fill in gaps. I plan on doing 1997 etc collapsing more up to date local data into these wards. It's all wonderfully pointless

I promise I'll make a separate thread for this when it is done, but here is 1992 for Scotland (less Highlands, Borders D&G) Whole thing will be subject to change.

I had that down as the least Tory part of Gordon? Gordon is a nightmare. A runaway result in 1987 became wafer thin in 1992. I'm going to look at it again using 1990,1992 and 1994 results.

Could I ask if Oldham could be mapped (ahead of the by-election in Oldham West) and (when you are able to) Dyfed?

Cheers Pete those maps are great. Just two questions.
1. Which Morpeth ward do you have labour ahead in?
2. How close were the lib dems to the conservatives in some other wards such as Rothbury?

1. I have Labour ahead in Stobhill but both that ward and Kirkhill were very close between Tory and Labour (North was quite comfortable Tory)
2. The only other ward the Lib Dems were close to winning was Amble West & Warkworth. They were within around 10% in a number of wards like Alnwick, Rothbury, Norham and Islandshires Bear in mind that in places like this where there were not local elections on general election day, I have used a basket of results rather than just the most recent set. Therefore while Rothbury may appear to be one of the most Lib Dem inclined wards on the basis of the 2013 results (indeed it was the safest of all Lib Dem wards by some way), a longer term analysis of the areas voting behaviour suggests it is not as strongly Lib Dem (in 2005 it returned a Tory county councillor) and therefore the performance in 2013 probably owes more to a personal vote for the sitting councillor that would not readily transfer to another candidate in a general election

Just finishing up Leicestershire at the moment. I've not done much in the South West and Cornwall will need doing but it's going to be a bit of a nightmare. I was planning to do Avon next
