Dimbleby was good in the 80s / 90s but stayed past his sell-by date. Huw Edwards was alright I thought. He plays a straight bat. Tom Bradby is a bit too ‘look at me’, and Robert Peston was as unbearable as always. I’d like to have seen Sky’s coverage, partly out of curiosity about John Bercow’s input, but missed out on that. I don’t get the hate levelled at Laura Kuenssberg. She can be hyperbolic and over-keen on the flowery language, trying to be a bit Shakespearean at times and come up with a memorable line for the camera, but most political correspondents are like that (Nick Robinson was very bad for that). Jeremy Vine was perhaps better than on some of his previous outings, but he’s not a patch on Peter Snow. Ultimately I thought ITV was better than BBC because there seemed more coverage of results and better analysis. I look with envy at the programmes of the 50s / 60s where they showed masses of results on screen, including the safe holds. Oh and the map outside Broadcasting House with Sophie Raworth is pointless when they can can show the map with Jeremy Vine. Too many different elements for the sake of it. Dimbleby signed off the 2005 coverage with the same line, IIRC, as his father did in 1964 (his last election night), so I wonder if his original plan was for 2005 to be his last. Did you mean 2015 as that was supposed to be his last, but he agreed to do the through the night coverage of 2017 as apparently Huw Edwards was barely back from sick leave and surgery.

I watched it after the event on YouTube and I didn’t think Bercow outshone anybody, he had the odd little bit of info about a Member, and was much better than either Dermot or anyone on the length of time a Red Wall constituency had been Labour. I also liked him because he was the only one mentioning demographic changes in those seats, and the long term Labour decline in some of them. I never got the feeling he was inserting himself into conversations, and there would be long periods when, if they didn’t keep using the same wide angled shot of the desk, he was invisible. For me what the BBC lost by not having Dimbleby, Sky gained by not having Adam Boulton, who just can’t anchor live TV. Dimbleby was good in the 80s / 90s but stayed past his sell-by date. No, I did mean 2005. He was maybe thinking that he'd be put aside by 2009/10 as he was going to be in his seventies by then.

They dont like other people posting their election shows. I tried uploading 1992 once and it was blocked.

Not quite coverage but if you want to hum along here is the music for ITN's election coverage
1983
1987
Both also used for sport, the first was used in the US for NFL coverage and the second for Formula 1.

Rewatching the 2015 election coverage on the BBC. There was something so exciting and jam-packed about that election with all the different swings and sub-stories going on (SNP surge; UKIP surge, Lib Dem decline; Cameron V Milliband; Green hold in Brighton). The following two elections just didn't really have that, and therefore lacked real excitement compared to 2015. Doubt we will have an election like that for a long time.

The one consolation for me was that the exit poll gave a pretty good indication that it would be a grim night from my POV. That of course wasn't the case in 1992.

The TV schedules for 6 May show there isn't a BBC special overnight but 'Election 2021' is on BBC Two at 9 AM to Noon on Friday morning, and on BBC One from 2:30 PM to 6 PM.

BBC Wales appears to be starting its show on Friday the 7th at 1.45pm. I wouldn't expect anything of any interest before that as verification will begin slowly from 9/10am onwards.

I checked the *provisional* BBC schedules. I am sure there will be some changes before the schedules are finalised. It seems a bit strange to be on for three hours in the morning whilst not much is happening and then be off for two and a half hours over lunch. I guess Wales will break for the news at 6 when it doesn't show it and are they really going for 8 hours and 15 minutes straight? (EDIT: BBC Two Wales has the News at 6 and all of BBC1's normal programmes showing on that channel so I guess BBC Wales does intend to run for 495 glorious minutes of programming). The five minute evening update for England seems a bit tight as well.
Thursday nightNothing though I am sure things like Hartlepool will make News 24.
Friday BBC 2 (All UK) 0900-1200 - Election 2021 with Huw Edwards and Kirsty Wark.
BBC 1 (England and NI) 1430-1800 - Election 2021 with Huw Edwards and Kirsty Wark.
2000-2005 - Election 2021 Update News at Ten is +5 minutes compared to normal as well.
BBC 1 (Wales) 1345-2200 - Wales Today Election Results 2021
BBC 1 (Scotland)
1200-1300 - Election Scotland 2021 1330-1800 - Election Scotland 2021
1830-2005 - Election Scotland 2021

I don't know if anyone else gets as excited by watching pre-election programmes as I do (...), but there have been a fair few made by BBC Wales and ITV Wales.
Here they are for your viewing pleasure (or to help with that chronic insomnia).

My idea would be for a special "psephological geeks" programme to run for several days on BBC Parliament. Edwards, Laura K etc can host the standard 'not actually caring about the results' programme on the main BBC channels, but the Parliament one can be hosted by Curtice, Lewis Goodall and a small role for Sir David Butler.

Lewis Goodall is unbearable. I'd take my chances with Huw Edwards in that event.

The BBC could improve their coverage immeasurably flying Antony Green in from Oz
