Yes, that's true. It's like how the American Archive of Public Broadcasting americanarchive.org is restricted to the US only. And I certainly haven't been able to view any of it including the Watergate hearings and Johnson's resignation announcement etc., because it would be quite wrong to use a VPN to do so.

Sky news:
1992:Projection from results within a regional control no special emphasis on result from marginal-may have referred to ICM exit poll for The S*n which had vote shares and seats 1997:No exit poll split difference between BBC and ITN exit polls(175 maj forecast), otherwise results based with 10.55pm prediction of Lab maj of 180+. 2001:No exit poll though did large phone in poll and did general 10pm forecast 'based on unspecified polling data from around the country'.May have used BBC,ITN and phone in poll to offer quick prediction of 165 majority a few minutes after 10pm. 2005:Sky News Forecast 'based on real results', first projection came after 100+ results declared after 1.30am. 2010-2019 as BBC and ITN

Whilst looking through the C-Span archive to see what past election coverage they had I was rather suprised to find recordings of the rehearsals for the BBC's general elections from the past, therefore decided to see what I could find out and found the following rehearsal footage 1992: www.c-span.org/video/?25480-1/british-elections (Kinnock becomes Prime Minister) 2010: (Dumfriesshire projected as a three way Lib Dem, Con, Lab ultra marginal) What I would like to know is why don't the BBC release these rehearsal footage online as part of the BBC archive scheme so we can see how they prepare for different outcomes?

I’m slightly surprised C-SPAN has these as Antony Green Tweeted in 2017 that he’d been able to observe the dress rehearsal, was ultra jealous of the technology compared to his, but had had to hand over his phone on entering as even photos or small 15 second clips to social media were forbidden.

The second one is a clip recorded for Points of View which Jeremy Vine was presenting at the time, so that's why it exists. Points of View has its own rules, as I once found out when they re-edited one of my attempts on Mastermind...

Here's another collection of rehearsal footage from 2019 with the scenario being a 2015 style Con majority with highlights including
Dominic Grieve winning Beaconsfield as an Independent Conservatives HOLD St. Austell and Newquay on a 4% swing from Lab to Con
And if you look carefully you can even produce an estimated vote share and seat share Estimated Vote Share: Con 42%, Lab 35%, Lib Dem 10%, SNP 3%, Brexit 2%, Others 8% Estimated Seat Share: Con 333, Lab 222, SNP 46, Lib Dem 23, NI 18, Green 1, (estimated) Plaid 4, Ind 1 (Beaconsfield)

Terry Wogan read out my letter on "Points of View" and also pointed out the irrelevant fact that my letter had been written on the back of one of my old election leaflets.

Or does some of it get muted for them if they don't need to hear some bits? Talkback is generally constant. One of the lessons TV people soon learn is the ability to read, listen, hear (these two being very distinctly different) and to show none of this to the viewer.

Now regretting putting this in one file but here's the BBC's overnight coverage of 'Vote 2000': Thanks for this David. The year 2000 truly does feel - and from the start of that video look - like a different planet.
